Tom,
I have an '02 Miata and want to sure that you have taken care of the VVT control issue that the BRP Coldside version had (which was going to be fixed by the ELF+). What are you using for electronics in your kit?

For the 01-05 we are currently using the JRPC for the main injectors and the SS extra injector controller for cooling. We are far from finished with the 01-05. At the moment the best we have made repeatably is 182 and I know there is 190-200 waiting to be tapped. The 182 is with nothing special for the VVT control.

Tom,
Didn't the 2001+ run extremely rich with just the Powercard? I remember your cat died because it was getting too much fuel. Wouldn't the 5th injector just exacerbate the problem?

The cat is still original in the 05. I think it actually has 2 of them again. The cat got all eaten up in the 99 but I think that was oil from the Wiseco pistons in the built engine when the engine was cold or cruising.

The 05, which does run rich with the PC, has had no cat problems. The PC starts to lean out up top and that is where I add the cooling fuel from the 5th injector.

I can't speak about the naturally aspirated 2005 with certainty but it should be the same as any Federal 99 in that it only has a cat in the mid-pipe. My 2001 only has the one cat.. still the OEM with a not so inspiring JR header.

The 2004-2005 MSM is also a single cat affair but in the downpipe instead of the mid-pipe like most NBs.

It was my understanding that Mazda had the cars as 50 state legal as of 2000 (?) to 2003 and then went back to 49 state and California in 2004/05. My 05 specifically states that it meets CA emissions and the 05 I started to buy over here in AZ did not have that sticker under the hood.
