Intercooler on the cold side?

I live in CA, so need a CARB rated kit, and I like the simplicity of the cold side system.

But, I am a firm believer in intercoolers.

Would a water to air would fit between the exhaust of the supercharger and the intake? Has anyone tried that?

There is not much room for one in there. I have a design for one that would fit. 6x4x2 inches. I just think it is too small for the cost/benefit.
