I seen in old posts that Tom & Dr Evol had tried some engine torque dampener on their cars. How did it work out for you guys. Did it help save on the engine mounts on the driverside ? It looks like a good idea ,but how did it work out in real life?

I think the mount left something to be desired but it still appeared to work well. You could see it 'exercising' on the dyno. Start off with the Mazda competition mounts though. They may suffice. Mine made a lot of difference when I put them on. My worn out stock mounts made it almost impossible to shift 2-3 on the 1/4 mile. The Mazda-comp mounts fixed that.

My stock mounts are still in good shape as I only have maybe 600 miles on the new FFS settup , & a total of 8000 on the car . Winter brought all the fun to a stand still. I was looking at this mod as a way of prolonging the stock mounts as I have no issues with them yet. { An ounce of pervention is worth a pound of cure}. Looks like an easier install than new motor mounts. But if your mounts are allready gone then it would be a no brainer.

Scott,
I think it is like the clutch. The harder you hit it the faster it will go. I had a lot of miles on my 99 with 200WHP before the stock mounts went (basically the driver's side). I determined it was gone when I couldn't power shift from 2-3 anymore. :)
We put 30K+ on the 05 but never did a drag strip start or a power shift and the stock clutch and motor mounts were fine when I sold it.
