For those that would like to install a Thompson remote oilfilter with their FFS Coldside I would recommend the following modifaction to their{Thompson} kit for the NB Miata applications. This will resolve the tight clearence problems for the oil lines between the intake manifold and the frame rail. I had seen this done on MNet & tried it myself and it resolved all my clearance problems. This modification of the Thompson kit is done without their knowledge or approval.
Follow the instructions that Thompson's sends with their kit ,with the exceptions of reversing the two oil hoses, by using the longer of the two hoses for the one that attaches to the center hole of the filter adapter to the center hole of filter base unit. Then remove the AN adapters from the remote oil filter base {,a sparkplug socket fits these}, and replace with a pair of 2'' and 3'' brass extensions with 90 degree double female elbows. I picked these up at the local NAPA store and are common fittings. Using the proper sealent I installed these back onto the filter base unit and reinstall the AN fittings in each of the 90 degreee elbows. They should be aimed down and to the rear at about 45 degrees. Then attach the filter base unit to passenger side fender behind headlight as shown by Thompson except rotate the unit 90 degrees so that the extentions are pointed parallel with the radiator. The 90 degree elbows should angle downward and toward the rear of the car at about 45 degrees. You may need to drill one additonal hole in the fender to mount the filter base unit. I used a rubber coated well nut for that , as the hole has no access from the back side. It also serves to isolate any vibration. Attach the longer of the 2 oil hoses the the filter adapter center hole 1st. Then the 2nd hose to the outside hole. . I advise to use spiral wrap to protect the hoses from anything that they might contact with. They will move slghtly with engine torque. After the filter base plate is installed to fender then connect the two oil lines. Center hole oil line from adapter plate goes to center hole on the filter base plate.
This mod is most easily preformed when the stock intake manifold is removed and prior to installing the FFS Coldside manifold.
On my 2001 FFS Coldside this cured all and any issues that I had with regards to fittment between the two companys kits. FFS Coldeside and Thompson remote oilfilter relocator. The oil lines now run under the supercharger intake and along the side of the inside plastic fender skirt.

Thanks for the tip! It serves me right for not checking this forum for the last few days. I installed the Thompson kit last night and it looks like I'll be running to NAPA today...oops. At least the install was easy without the intake manifold on.
