So about a year ago I had been trying to get all the bugs ironed out of my supercharger install and the one thing that I couldn't cure was a constant P0171 code. In the end I tried the PC Pro ran a tank or two of gas through it and all was good, no more codes. All was fine for the remainder of the year (about 6 months)

The car has now been sitting for 6 months and the other day I decided it was time to take it out and get the safety and emissions done. The battery was dead so I had to jump it and this of course reset the OBD II. So I have been driving it around trying to get the sensors to go ready but I keep throwing the P0171 code again.

I'm thinking the little bit of gas that was left in the tank probably went bad and that once I run a couple of tanks through it again it will be fine but I'm not sure.

If anyone has any ideas as to what it else might be let me know. I don't think it can be a vacuum leak as I have currently pulled the belt off and disconnected the PC Pro and I'm no longer thowing a code or at not least yet.

Fuel trim too lean. Possible causes:

Misfire
HO2S (front) deterioration
HO2S (front) heater malfunction
Pressure regulator malfunction
FP malfunction
Fuel filter clogged or restricted
Fuel leakage on fuel line from fuel delivery pipe and FP
Leakage exhaust system
Purge solenoid valve malfunction
Purge solenoid hoses improper connection
Insufficient compression

Old stale fuel might do it as well. Wait till you get a couple tanks of fresh gas through it and see if that doesn't fix the problem.

The fuel filter is new and if I remember correctly pretty much all of those things were checked during multiple visits to the mechanic last year. Of course doesn't mean one of them hasn't failed now. Also with those as possible issues wouldn't I still be seeing the problem even with the belt off and PC-Pro disconnected?

The supercharger, belt on, is possibly just exacerbating the problem. Try a couple tanks of good fuel and see if it doesn't correct. Take a drive to Arizona. That should use up a couple tanks. :)

Check real good for a leak on your intake line between the MAF and the throttle body. Just a small crack in a hose crease will throw a 0171.

We had discovered a leak in my intake tube when I was in AZ to visit Tom last year. It was due to the way I had rolled the edges of the flexible tube when I assembled everything. I am amazed at the difference a pinhole leak can make.

If you remove the flex tube, look very carefully for "dust trails" in the folds where it was connected to the manifold and MAF.
