So I'm thinking about getting the new 170HP package and I have a goofy question. If my 2001 is rated at 142HP or about 100-105HP at the wheels. What would the HP at the flywheel be adding a new Coldside with 170HP at the wheels? I assume we would be talking about the same 40% or so, yes? Would we be at 220-240 at the flywheel? Or is does my math not jive?

Thanks

Actually, you are closer to 110-115 at the wheels stock. There is about a 30HP loss for drivetrain and other losses. At 170WHP, the drivetrain losses are not much more but you have to add the HP needed to drive the blower. Probably another 15HP. So you would be a little over 215 at the crank/flywheel.

I have heard arguments that you don't include the blower loss but it is driven by the crank and the engine has to develope that extra power to drive it so I include it. I guess, depending on how you look at it, you will be 200-215 depending on whether you include it or not?
