So I have the kit and several of my friends have thanked me for being the early adopter so they could try it out. Then they all started focusing on getting their own. The hitch is still CARB. We all live in Calif and aren't at all interested in taking this off and getting the old parts to work well again just for a 20 minute test every 2 years. Not to mention we aren't at all interested in whatever fines the local Hwy patrol can cook up if they ever have reason to look under our hoods.

So is there a plan for CARB?

We have heard for some time that it is part of the plan but never that any acutual steps that have been accomplished. We aren't interested in hearing again all the clever ways to get around CARB. We want to buy a kit that is CARB approved.

Well, I always thought CARB was vitally important. So much so that I drove to California last September and purchased the California 05 just for that purpose. I even offered the car to the other guys for CARB of the hotside as well as volunteering to go and do it. All to no avail. I will say that, right after I finish developing the fueling for all three groups, CARB is next on the list.

I am somewhat confused by a couple of the threads on mnet about the viability of the 05 for downward compatibility so it may have to be CARBed and then sold and an 03 purchased to do it all over again. I also cannot guarantee I will get an EO sticker but I can guarantee that I WILL try. The 05 will not be sold until I can at least give it my best effort. Based on the fact that there is just two drivers here and we have three cars, I have great incentive to try and get it over with soon. :)

I will promise that I will not start the S2K coldside project until AFTER I have a Miata EO sticker.

Carb approval would take a great deal of the stress out of buying and driving a supercharged miata in Calif.
All efforts will be much appreciated.

I think the safest bet right now is just get any EO sticker and put it on the supercharger, so that when the CHP does pop your hood, you can show it to him. I doubt he will look up the number right then and there.
