The power cord was not attached to the altenator but was touching, and I did not notice it. I was test diving the car and sometimes would have Boost and sometimes wouldn't. The power line spiked so much it burned the cap over it and I think it fried the altenator. Put in new 100 amp fuse and it blew right away. So I tried to take the altenator out and I started with a bolt in the back using the other end of a open end rench and it was a rachet type, got it out only so far and it was stoped by a other bracket, now I can't get the bolt out and I can not put the bolt back in to get the rachet off. Really not sure what bolts to take out in what order.
I have to be the biggest dummie around. Can any one help or have an idea???????????????????????????????????????????

ThomS,
First remove the lower IM brace bolt. Then remove the lower brace bracket.
The bottom bolt for the alternator slides all the way out to remove the alternator.

ok thats good. thank you..
But now how do I fix my problem? the bottom bolt half way out and can not take out the bottom brace because it comes out toward the other bolt I have half way out. Can not put the other bolt in and cant get it out because of the brace bolt? need a trick to put the altenator bolt back in to get the rachet off?

I know this is a real dumb question but here it goes .
What is the IM brace bolt?

The IM brace is that black hex shaped bar with the two red adjustable ends that goes from under the Intake Manifold down to the engine at roughly a 45* angle. It is bolted to the engine with two bolts. Ari (99MX5) is recommending that you remove the lower bolts to swing the brace out of the way to gain better access to the alternator bolts.

Thom, just a reminder....when you remove the lower bracket (the one that mounts to the motor) note that one bolt is longer than the other. If you reverse them one will go back in fine, the other will bottom out before the bracket is secure.
