View Full Version : How to program 2-plug ECU PC Pro without OBD info
It appears that OBD wasn't introduced into European cars until 2000. My '96 does not have the in-cabin port. It also has the 2-plug ECU so I'll be getting on PC Pro to handle the 4 main injectors plus the 5th E-cool injector.
So the question is, how do I know when I'm moving from closed to open loop, and how does this affect how I try to tune things up?

Open/Closed loop is not needed with the 90-93. The ECU is not all that smart. We do not have it functional in Dan's car and he hasn't missed it yet.
So it's a case of tune for fuel trimming based on AFR, then listen for pinging and retard where required? Is it as easy as that?

That is a pretty good summary.
So what else would a Dyno tuning shop do for me?;)

Well, they will also take your money. Most think they have all the answers and, even though they have never seen a PC-Pro or Miata before, wont listen as to how to set it up. Be sure they know you are the boss.

So if mine is a '95 lookalike and does have sequential fueling, do I now need to know whether I'm in closed/open loop for tuning purposes?

You don't need to know. We force it to happen with the 94-05.
