Interesting! Would this be a good replacement for the SS and the JRPC? Just one contoller under he dash would be good.

My next project is something to pull timing at higher boost levels.

Give me a couple days and I'll answer thatbquestion. ;)

Tomorrow I drop the 99 off for JIC install and pick up the 05 to install the module for test.

Ok now we are talking.... A tuneable power card with supplemental injector/O2 clamp to boot.

I'll bet the other guys happy about this... The death knell for the ELF+

Hope it works Tom

...The death knell for the ELF+

In order for something to die, it has to have lived first.

I can't go into too much detail but it is actually two midules. The control module and the programming module. The thing that will make CARB happy is that I can ship without the programming module and with the adjustment pushbuttons disabled. CARB has a real issue with customers adjusting fuel.

It goes on the 05 today.

For those of you not in California, the human interface for programming is really cool. Windows typ enviornment. There are two analog programs where you can do things like cut the o2 wire and, instead of clamping it, you can pick a load point and add an offset. Sometimes the ECU is just not happy to see it pulled high or low but add a little bit or subtract a little is better. Or, set it up to ramp to the new level. Now, I haven't tried these features yet, so time will tell but I'm excited about it.

You must know some special people. I've been trying to get one of those for my V6 project and can't get one yet. Problem is my only contact is through Moss and they are clueless.

Mine was a surprise gift from Mike at Moss and I have found them to be quite knowledgeable on the products. Great group to work with as well.

Quote from Tom "I can't go into too much detail but it is actually two midules."

Is a midule bigger or littler than a module? I can never remember.

Hey, you try typing on one of these little PDA phones at an Italian restaurant with oil and spice dripping down your arm and see how well you do. :)

So how do I get one of these new cards? I've been having a too rich condition that I can't seem to track down. My impression is that its the ELF. But not sure. It was working well before. Anyways, once you get this unit all sorted out, I would love to try it out.

Do you have the ELF or the ELF+? The ELF and/or ELF+ should be able to turn down the fuel. Yours is a 2001-2005, if I recall, so I assume it is the ELF+.

Sidetracked for a few hours today as we design a proper auto-tensioner for my new hotside using his hotside for a test car. The new module is all wired up to the PNP cable so all I hev to do is plug it in and connect the 5th injector wires and test.

ELF+? What's that? I can tune the ELF and shift the whole cure up or down, but I've already tuned it on the dyno 1 month ago and have not changed any settings. I also think it's affecting my settings at cruise which it should not.

Banshee,

I think the ELF+ is the version they ship for the 01-05 cars. I thought yours was one of those? I have no idea if the following is correct but will draw you a scenario. Kind of thinking out loud.

If the ELF and ELF+ are self calibrating and you shut off the engine and restart it quickly, will the ELF re-calibrate to the pressure (vacuum?) it sees? I would think it would take a finite amount of time for the pressure/vacuum to settle as the bypass closes and the throttle body closes trying to seal the intake manifold. It will have to leak back up to atmosphere. Other thought is that the calibration reference in the ELF is drifting and causing a shift in that calibration. I heard you have to switch power on and off three times rapidly to get it to calibrate? Not sure if you also have to say three times "I wish I was in Kansas, Toto?". Just kidding. Seriously, I would go for the reference is drifting thought. We dyno'd Chuck's car a couple weeks ago and had a good 12:1. Then went back last week and it was an almost perfect 11:1 when we started. We thought we did something wrong but he logs the ELF settings and they were the same. Now I wonder about that. He now seems to have some surging off boost (cruise) as well. We will re-think his case now as well.

There was only one ELF originally and a chip change for the 01-05 has been promised for months and apparently is still not ready. A corrected chip was sent out for a bad batch to certain people, but not for the richness problem.

I think it was superceded by a mapped version for more variability in several stepped rpm ranges (not as fine as the SS, but similar I think) with some sort of interface thru the on board USB port. The problem with the original seems to be when set for proper A/F at low RPM, the higher goes lean and it is all in one setting. I think it has something to do with the larger injectors in 01-05, something I think I read somewhere.

I think the ELF + as originally promised is over, but I'm not sure. I forgot what it was supposed to do

The last time I checked, the chip for richness problem was still having programming problems. Unkind remark deleted.
