Ok, I have a 115mm now but I'm getting bored. Should I go for a 130mm, be "safe" and only go upto 125mm?

Why stop at 130? Go 150mm.

Chuck, if you are bored, you should take the car to the track. Hint hint!

The last time I tried that, the track officials wouldn't let me on the track with my daughters lashed to the roll bar and now that I have a son... :rofl:Chuck, if you are bored, you should take the car to the track. Hint hint!

So where do you race your car at? I tried doing it on the highway last year and got a $480 speeding ticket.
And my wife could have done this to me :hang:
No more of that for me.

Race?
I don't time to race my car. It's a shame too since I moved to within 1 hour of three different tracks.
Oh well, with my twin girls and Minime (my son), I doubt I'll be able to have any "me" time til I'm around oh, Tom's age. :)So where do you race your car at? I tried doing it on the highway last year and got a $480 speeding ticket.

I finally installed a 125mm pulley.
It took a few days of fiddling to get it tuned, but now I NEVER use more than 25% throttle. I get all the torque at 5000 rpms that I used to get at redline, so I actually drive calmer. (yeah right. LOL)
And yes, this is still with no IC and my Aquamist is disconnected and I still get no pinging.

I was playing one day, and dropped the car to 1500RPM in 5th, floored it. 4 lbs of boost kicked in, and the car accelerated, not fast, but acceptable. This is in a 5 speed with the 3.9:1 rear end, and only 105 mm pulley.
I shift less, and spend very little time near redline - so in that way, I am driving calmer - but not slower.
Chuckerants, with the 125mm pulley, what boost do you get at 2000RPM? Were you able to re-tune for 125mm by adjusting the 105mm settings, or did Tom provide a new base map?
Thanks,
Steve

Steve I had a 105mm 2+ years ago.
I went up to a 125mm from a 115mm.
And yes I did just tweak the map from what I had.
As for how much boost I have now, I haven't logged any runs yet. I find though that I inadvertently start in 2nd gear instead of 1st occasionally. :)I was playing one day, and dropped the car to 1500RPM in 5th, floored it. 4 lbs of boost kicked in, and the car accelerated, not fast, but acceptable. Chuck, you are probably at 8-10 PSI even at 1500 RPM. However, if you want to avoid bent rods, I suggest foot to the floor at 1500 be avoided. That is a lot of pressure at pretty low RPM. No problem easing into the gas at that low level but no need to abuse the engine either. :) Well, no need to abuse the engine any more than you already do. :devil2:

The only thing is that I wish I had more time to drive the car.
Being Mr. Mom, it's hard to fit all three kids into the Miata no matter how much rope I use.
Oh well. Maybe in 17 years when Mini-Me gets old enough to kick him out of the house I'll be able to drive it full time again.

Uping the boost is just like tightening a bolt......up it until it strips then back er off a 1/4 turn.;)
