I was doing a regular oil engine on my Miata today and noticed a small oil trail and a drip coming from behind the front pulley on my coldside . Nothing serious, just a small seepage, but it caught my attention. I have less than 2000 miles on the setup so I have been keeping a close eye on everything. I had just been driving it and everything under the hood was pretty hot yet. When I loosened the fill plug ,on the SC, I was suprised on the amount of air pressure there was in the oil chamber when hot. You could hear the air hissing out as you loosened it. I have read about this somewhere and did a search here ,but came up empty. It just seems to me like a good idea to release the pressure on the seals by doing this in a hot condition . The oil fill plug on my MP62 was just off to the side of the drive pulley. It is a small allen headed plug with a drop of color on it. I have seen both red & green marks on them, The plug on mine had a O ring on the back side so it is totally sealed when tight. All one has to do is to loosen this plug and reseal it when it is in a heatsoaked condition, this sould remove a lot of the positive pressure on the system. Some plugs maybe sealed with thread sealant, but mine just had a O ring on it. Very simple fix for anyone with this small concern.:chillpill::chillpill:
