I'm tired of dealing with the smog police in CA. I'm switching to Tom's coldside so I can set it up and forget about it. If you don't live in the Peoples Republic of CA, here's a chance to get your hands on a TDR A/A intercooled Hotside 6-rib MP62. The particulars:
BRP/SOT MP62 Hotside (started as their non-intercooled kit)
FFS Big Throttle Body
110mm crank and stock nose pulleys
TDR A/A FMIC with plastic shroud inserts and mounting brackets
FFS tuned PCPro's for fuel management
FFS tuned Timing Card for timing control
Kit has ~9000 miles on it and other than a little dirty (which I will clean) before shipping, is in perfect running order.
The intercooler has expected wear being exposed and all... See the attached image.
Price? Asking $2500 plus shipping. I've already started the removal process so it should be ready for shipment relatively soon.
Feel free to PM with any questions.

:devil2: how much for just the intercooler?:devil2:

I really don't want to part things out seperately. Hope you understand. The value of a hotside is the higher power potential that the intercooler allows. Mine wasn't there yet, but that was just a pulley and a couple of other mods away that aren't CARB approved.

Tom,
I've had a couple of PM's asking about whether or not this would fit on a '99. Aside from the pinouts on the ECU being a little different, are there differences in the exhaust manifold mounting points between '99 and '01+?
As far as I know, everything else would be plug-n-play.

Since the 99 and 01 headers are directly interchangeable, the mounting brackets should all fit as well.

That's a great deal! You should put an ad on the Miata.net classfieds - doubt it would last long.

I'd like to give one of our forum members a chance first, before casting a wider net. Besides, before too long, someone will post over there that it's available.

NOt to change the subject , but why do the police bother you in CA with the hot side? IS this system not carb aproved? Just curious.

Thom, the Hotsides have never been CARB approved. Tom broke new ground when he got CARB approval for the FFS Coldside. The only other supercharger kit that I am aware of that has CARB approval is the JRSC.
Jwalton, the '99-'00 and '01-'05 Hotside kits are mechanically interchangeable. The one thing to watch for is whether the installer has the cast or stamped crank pulley. If they have the stamped steel crank pulley, they need a spacer to mount the supercharger pulley on the engine crank. Electronically, the '99-'00 and '01-'05 differ in the ECU connectors... so the plug and play adapters won't fit. However, that is pretty easily fixed with a different patch cable and resoldering the wires. The other difference is that the fuel tuning will be a bit different between the two. The '01-'05 runs quite a bit richer with the same tune settings (which would mean putting the kit on a '99-'00 without a retune would case it to run lean).

Thanks for the explanations FormerDatsun510Man. I kind of assumed the mechanical interchangeability and new about the ECU pinout differences, but didn't want to say so and have prospective buyers think I'm just trying to sell it without caring about the correct application and any hidden mounting gotchas.
BTW, still available...

I just wanted to mention that the issues I pointed out are things that one would have to figure out with NEW kits also. Additionally, based on extensive testing on my part the TDR IC is the one to get. It is lighter, cools better, makes the most rwhp and allows the best flow to the radiator of any of the intercoolers I have tested.

FormerDatsun510Man: My extensive research of your testing is what prompted me to get it in the first place. Thank you, by the way...
All: I forgot to describe something about the kit that might be a little trivial, but I did do the dual-fan mod on the harness so you won't have to. It works wonderfully in keeping temps under control, even on the hottest of days, with the OEM fans no less.

Tom,
Is it possible to use many of the pieces to build the coldside?
MP62
FFS Big Throttle Body
110mm crank and stock nose pulleys (I don't think they will measure the pulley)
FFS tuned PCPro's for fuel management
FFS tuned Timing Card for timing control

My understanding is that you would need the intake manifold (obviously), bracketry for the auto-tensioner (assuming it's not hung off the intake), and the MP62 sent back to Magneson to relocate the bypass actuator.
Am I missing anything Tom?

What would it take and $$ to make a "jumper harness" for the 2001 back to a 2000 ??

Assuming the connectors are the same (big assumption, Tom?) it won't cost you a dime. Just a little bit of your time with a soldering gun to move some wires around.

Is it possible for you to ship to the Netherlands?
I suppose so. I'd have to check with Tom to see how he deals with international shipping. To be clear, I'm not affiliated with Tom's business, he's just really helpful to his customers and he's shipped overseas before and knows how it's done.
The "plus shipping" would obviously still apply, but as long as it's possible, I've got no problem doing it. I would think about insuring it as well to protect your investment. It's got a long way to go to get to you.

Any updates on the shipping costs?
I don't need the timing card and PCPro's, if anyone else is interested..?

Sorry about the delay, I've been on vacation. I haven't had a chance to check on shipping costs to the Netherlands. I will talk to Tom as soon as I can. I need to get an idea on weight and box sizes. Until I get everything off the car and consult with Tom on the best way to package and ship everything internationaly, I'm a little reluctant to quote you a number and then have to raise it on you later. I hope you understand.
I do have both AC and power steering.
Again, I'm sorry about the delay,
Jim

My NB only has power steering, no AC, will it fit?

The lack of stuff like power steering and AC will only make your job easier. In fact, the lack of AC means you won't have to deal with relocating the AC condensor and bending the AC pipes to fit around the relocated radiator. You'll also get better cooling performance out of your radiator...

Update: I haven't been able to work on the car much in the past few weeks so no progress in getting things removed and ready for shipment. I appreciate the patience of those who've expressed interest.
I will definately post again as well as send PM's when I get back to it. Maybe this weekend...
Just in case anyone was wondering, I will NOT do a bidding war kinda thing. Whoever antes up first (when I no-kidding have something ready to ship out) gets it.

Like I said, everythings off/out of the car. Short of going to a box place and getting it packed up, it's ready to ship to whoever wants it. I talked to Gary at TDR relative to the intercooler mounting plates and rivets as well as some power steering hose and two rubber bushings for the AC condensor and he's more than happy to sell that stuff by itself (trivial $'s).
Everything's on the table. If you see something that's obviously missing, let me know:

One of the goodies came in a a small package, and that was good, but rest of the goods were packaged together, and those have not come yet, which is not so good. I know good things come in samall packages, but I just want to say "good, things came.. in small packages.."
Not terribly good at the waiting game.

Well, from my prespective, the small package is FFS goodies and the rest of it came from "that other company". So, good things come in small packages. :)

Absolutely, Tom..
Speaking of "that other company", is Jim still out of town?

He wasn't "the other company". :) They are "BRP". The maker of your kit.

Sorry about dropping off the grid. I'm back and leave again on Monday. <sigh>
Don't worry too much about the packages yet. I sent a box on the same day to my sister in Virginia and it took 2 weeks to get to her. Should've been 3 days. Go figure... Maybe there was an issue with some of the stuff out of that post office that delayed things a bit. Do you know if they're at least in country (Turkey, that is)?
I'll be snapping picks and taking measurements of the I/C mounting plates tomorrow and emailing them to you.
I just checked online and they still show the same status as before I went out of town the last time. Puzzling. If I remember, I'll stop by the post office tomorrow and see if I can get better info on where they really are.

Well, I have the Blower, the Intercooler, all the engine management components, 5th injector, etc sitting in my den.
As soon as I have the last box with brackets, plumbing pieces, etc, I'll start the installation.
Meanwhile I ordered the correct 7 series NGK iridiums along with some decent wires.
Still trying to decide on the clutch. (600 bucks - with shipping - on an ACT makes me a bit unhappy.)
I also met someone who owns a very reputable speed shop for dyno tuning. The guy has a 250 whp Miata, which he tuned himself, so he's looking forward to tuning my car.
I arranged a completely equipped shop to do the install. I am borrowing the place for a few days - all to myself. Belongs to another friend who is an attorney. He uses the place to restore vintage BMW bikes. A couple friends from the local MX5 club are willing to help with the installation.
What else.. Oh, the belt, an air filter, a slim fan (I don't hav A/C, so I'll install an auxillary fan to help things cool) and a pair of stiffener plates for the I/C. Another friend will laser cut them for me out of stainless steel.
Oh, I am giving three days for the installation (Gary at TDR told me the I/C itself takes about 8 to 10 hours), I will be borrowing yet another friend's motorcycle during that time. The shop is about 8 miles to my place.
That's where I am so far..
Waiting for the infamous fourth box...

Let me know if/how I can help. If there are any problems with tuning, I can send over a programmer for the PC-Pros and we can make them do most anything. :)
