I haven't seen a dyno in quite some time. Haven't done high performance driving much either due to a couple of mechanical issues which I fixed this last weekend. So I took the car to work today and on the way home really got on it a couple of times. My AFR was around 11.1 or so up to redline. I'm going to do a bit of srteet tuning when I can get a passenger to watch my gauges for me, but I was wondering how much HP (and/or torque) do you increase with 1point of AFR? I'm fine with being around 12:1, but no higher.
So any Dyno junkies ever come up with a rule-of-thumb? (TOM?)

We need to get Tom to come down to Socal for a dyno and tune day.

Be careful what you ask for..... Do you have any good dyno shops in your area? What area?

Pat,
The rule on the dyno is to add fuel until power drops off and then back up a bit. For the 99-00, that appears to be about 11:1. 13:1 up to around 4K is OK. At least 12:1 after that. At 11:1, you probably wouldn't see less than 3-5WHP lost. I'd rather have the fuel. :)
Right now I could give you the dyno time over here but I have to finish this patent project. Toy Fair is the first of February. That would preclude anything but a real problem to get me out of Coolidge.

Maybe we might do something after the toy fair then. I am in no rush, since I just rebuilt my engine and have only driven it about 30 miles since then.
I am in Los Feliz, but don't mind driving. Seems like there were a couple of new owners in this area who might be interested, too.

Any time you and/or others want to come, I'm all for it, we have plenty of room here at the Miata hotel and can set some of this aside. I just can't get too far from home so I can make engineering changes as needed. As a matter of fact, right now most of my stuff is on it's way to the SLA people (this afternoon) and I will have the SLA parts in the morning. Those parts will be hand carried to China Saturday. That makes next week ideal for Miata playing. :-)

I don't trust my car to drive that far, and the S2000 is not set up as a tow vehicle.
Congrats on getting your stuff to China.

I see the S2000 has come to an end. Honda is not going to make them anymore.
Maybe after March we can get together there for a dyno day?

Well, done for now.
I almost brought the Pilot back from Texas last week. We discovered that it is handy to have here, but I just could not bring myself to do the 20 hour drive. I don't trust the Miata anymore. It stranded me twice with that computer problem, and I really would like to have a spare before I do a longer trip. Add in the MMR motor mounts and the harsh vibrations, I worry about things falling off the car.

By then I'll be ready to join you at the dyno. My friend Doug (one of the other lucky clearance guys) should be ready as well. BTW, I obviously got the kit and the packaging was beautiful. Waaaaaaay better than the way I received the hotside kit from BRP.
On a side note, now that I've had a chance to really examine your intake manifold, what a beautiful/efficient design. Simple is usually the best. As an engineer, I'm all too familiar (personal experience I'm afraid) with the concept of over-designing something.
Now I just need to get my engine finished...

Ari (First kit ever SHIPPED) can tell you why I now use that box which costs me $39 each. It is called cheap insurance. Those kits are now in Finland, Australia, Tasmania, Hong Kong and a myriad of other far away places and they all arrive unscathed. Ari's kit 3 years ago was shipped from here to Las Cruces NM (341 miles) by FedEx and was basically totally destroyed.
