My throttle cable is loose and it just bugs me. I have never noticed a problem with it.

I saw on the forum that one should put a plastic spacer on the cable by the accelerator pedal. Did this and no real change. It is to loose for that to work.

Attached are three pictures.

Ideas how to cure the "problem" is appreciated.

Check to see if the bracket with the little wheel on it has not rotated back just a bit. There is only one attatchment point so it can rotate if not securlt fastened down.

Paul,

All you do is loosen the nut shown in the attached photo and then tighten the nut on the other side of the bracket. That will take up the slack in the cable. Don't make the cable too tight.

Thanks. I feel stupid - ah but when it comes to anything mechanic I am.

There are NO stupid questions around here. Sometimes we all need help. That is what this forum is all about.

Well I often can be an exception - at least that is what my wife tells me. And it does not bother me.

However, neither shop including the Spec Miata shop knew how to adjust it. The first shop tried with a fishing weight. :nono:

So I don't feel to bad.

Is that the same shop that tuned you for 14.7 AFR under boost?

Pat,

I think that was the other Race Grandpa. Paul. He is the one who blew an engine because they tuned it to 13:1. As a matter of fact, Bill is flying up to spend a day with Paul as we speak. I sure am glad Bill is here now. I try not to fly anymore. They wont let me carry on the plane, you know. ;)
