Since supercharging my car I have noticed that I am using a lot more fuel, I put this down to me booting it everywhere. However whilst having a nose around the engine to sort out an idle problem, I decided to have a quick look at my plugs I have attached an image of what they look like.

They are all dry with no sign of oil on them but they all seem a bit sooty, they have been in for about 7 months.

I have a JR M45 and I am using a Powercard Pro for fuel management. I left my timing alone and am using an MSD to pull the timing on boost. Apart from moving onto an Emanage blue is there anything I could do to stop from running rich? I can adjust the fuel curve up or down on the Powercard Pro, but would this make any difference?

BTW. I don't have a wideband sensor

That could be weak ignition. Not too much fuel but insufficient burning of the fuel.

I am running cold NGK BKR7E-11 plugs at the moment would running different plugs plugs help? Something like long reach NGK ZFR6F11 plugs?

7 might be a bit cold for an M45. BKR6E-11 might do the trick.

Just out of curiosity, when trying to do a hot read of the plug, should the car not be shut off immediately following the WOT run? If you sat there and idled it for a long time, would you not be reading the plugs condition at idle?

Yes and no. I think the long term color of the plug will still be there, like the white or brown or black ceramic. However, on the dyno, when you really want to tell, we turn the engine off at 7000 RPM to capture the moment. That's why his plug looked more like and ignition problem to me as the base color of the plug was more white than black or brown. But it had the black in spots. Just looks like it isn't burning well. I will be interested to see if the"6" plugs help.
