It's very strange that technicians, or service facilities have never even heard of a smoke machine to check for system leaks where I live.
(In this case I will use it for potential vacuum leaks, and a suspected boost leak in my car.)
I had used a Matco leak tester back when I used to live in the states, they are dead on accurate and save time and tons of frustration.

Having failed to locate one here, I guess I will have to build one myself.
I am thinking about using one of those party fog machines, and modify and convert it till I get the results I want out of it.
Question is, does anyone have any experience with these small fog machines?
Do they put out any pressure at all? I mean I need about 1.5 to 2 psi out of the machine to make things work.

Ps# If push comes to shove, I could always hook up an older car's exhaust to my intake, run the other car at idle and dribble a bit of ATF in its intake, and check for leaks in my car with the resulting smoke.
The thing is, I want to do it right, with minimum mess, and have a tool I can use in the future to boot.

Thanks..

I have never heard of a smoke machine to check for boost/vacume leaks but I guess it would work.

I cobbeled together a tester with a PVC end cap and a silicone sleeve to connect it to the throttle body. I just drilled a hole in the end cap and put a tire valve in it. Pressure it up with the air compressor to about 10-15psi and see if it holds pressure. If it's leaking you can usually hear it.

Any of y'all do anything similar?

A few examples. OTC was the first brand I could think of off the top of my head.
Great for pinpointing any vacuum leaks..
