Well, here's a promise you don't often hear from vendors. As soon as I can get them in, I will be swapping the 01-05 JRPC/SS out for the new PC Pro FREE OF CHARGE. Just send the JRPC and SS back (the extra SS cables would be appreciated as well). All I can say is DAMN. All this talk about VVT control is hooey. I always thought it was simply a matter of proper fuel control and it would drive as well as the 94-00 cars do with the JRPC/SS. You just have to drive my 05 now to appreciate it. Before, the 01-05 worked well, very well in fact. But NOW, it is frigging AWESOME. I'm beside myself.

Kudos to Moss/JR for a job really well done.

Now I think the 01-05 is ready for the bigger pulleys like the 94-00. 200+WHP here we come.

There just isn't a smiley face good enough to show my elation.

I have had a problem that was eluding me for several days. On top of that I was pretty sick this weekend so I just didn't get at it. Well, I found it. The cable supplier showed three wires for 12VDC. I used his sheet and picked one. Bad idea. My instructiuons say to use pin 4AF WHT/Red. I should have used my instructions. It would work really sweet and then reset itself for no apparent reason. Well, let me say that if anyone wants to know when the EGR turns on/off, I cal tell you how to monitor it. Use the wire suggested as 12VDC on the cable. It is 12VDC supply to the EGR valve and 20 gauge wire. When the valve turns on, it dips for a few milliseconds but that is enough to reset the PC-Pro.

I also have the new O2 circuit connected. It is frigging seamless for transition from off boost to a little or a lot of boost.

I will see how quick I can get some in here (they are only Beta now but maybe..... :)

That's one way to put it ;) but I don't want to bash my competitors product. All I can say is that this card is sweet. I will make it as reasonable as I can for midgets, err ELFs. As it has the e-cool built in, it would also be a good time for you to do that as well. Get back around 200WHP where it belongs.

If I trusted you guys, I would send it around for some of you to try. It is true plug-n-play. I just think you would plug it in and that would be the last I would see of it. It is that good. :) I should have all the pieces of the puzzle together next week while at Moss.

let me know, I would love to try it out. BTW, I think I'm ready for the 105 pulley now. You don't happen to have a pulley exchange program would ya?

Tom @ Fast Forward

Other companies sell them for $150 and I sell them for $60. Last batch, my cost was $63. I try to make it up in volume. Quantities of scale, doncha know. :) I'm just glad pulleys are not my main source of income. Second problem is that I didn't make those crank pulleys that came with the BRP kits and they are cut wrong. Not a good market for them used. :) But I do have them all the way to 120 for brave souls. Seriously, I think the 105 and the new PC-Pro and ecool is going to be close to 200 WHP and a good combination for the 01-05.

If I sent it to you for a few days, would you promise to send it back? All of the 100 or so viewers that will see this thread will be my witnesses. I ran it today with the 105mm and no ecool and it was still awesome. Some ping at ~6500 and up but it was 110F+ and I had tha AC on. You could try it with a 105 and see what you think.

I'll think about it when I get back from Moss next Thursday. I have a 105mm and used belt I could send you to try. I just know you wont want to return it.

Tom,

I'm currently using one of your 100mm pulley. Bought it back a few months ago when I went water injection. It runs great now. I'm seeing 7.5 pounds of boost without any ping. I think that I could up it to 105 and it'll be alright. I'm running really rich right now because of the alcohol injection.

Let me know.
Btw, I discovered the problem that was causing all my misfire codes, running rich code, plug erg code and such. Turn out my check valve for the water injection was not working, so the engine was sucking in water and alcohol at cruise hence causing all those problems, once I got that fix, all is better.

Ok good pulley. I still don't have much call for smaller pulleys :). Everybody wants bigger and bigger. All the kits stock ship with 105. Sorry. But at $60, you can't miss.

Could also be rich if you can't turn the ELF down far enough.

Great feeling when you solve a nagging problem like that. :)

Damn, I don't even have a FFS yet and I'm impressed. I was an early adopter of another kit on a prior Miata and I was never offered anything close to this kind of deal on an "after the fact" upgrade. Kudos Tom 8)

I am sure it is Tom. But don't know that feeling yet.

You are a class act. Tom. You and that outstanding system is why you will sell lots of them...

Hey Tom,

Just to let everyone know, while the full featured Powercard Pro is still in BETA testing before it becomes a retail product, The Powercards that FFS will require are ready to go. We just need to sit down and discuss what your particular requirements are.

Also, thanks for the kudos. This product is nearly 4 years in the works and it is nice to see it making a difference. We share your enthusiasm!

Best,

Any ideas for pricing for us Elf guys if we wanted to replace the elf and also add an E-Cool?

Mike,

Your guys are going to be amazed at the drivability of the 05. While I am test fitting the 6 rib stuff and Big Throttle body stuff, I will leave the keys for them to play. I think the feedback will be GREAT.

It will be awesome if I can get some into the field for test. I will order some of the cable harnesses today. Thanks for all the support.

I don't have pricing yet but I want to make it as painless as possible. I will probably offer an exchange for the ELF under $300. That will include the PNP harness pre-wired. If you want to add e-cool, we will have to go over the details of what you need. Good news is that the PC-Pro will preclude the need for the SS so that will save even more money.

We have two minor software glitches to overcome but, if we do, I might just have a half dozen PC-Pros as early as next week. These are still Beta III hardware so I really don't want to sell any as yet but would love to get them into the hands of FFS 01-05 customers free for test. They are simply plug-in so it is a couple minute install. And easy to revert back to what you have now if there is a problem.

I have Evan, Jared and Thom on my list at the moment. Did I miss any other 01-05 FFS people?

lucky bastards!!!

That leaves 3 units for the "really early adoptors" that's left out in the cold.

Tom @ Fast Forward

I will happily work something out for you/them as soon as I confirm a couple of people have no probkems. I actually ordered a batch of the 01-05 cables. I just want to crawl, walk and then run.

How many pre-FFS 01-05 people would like to be on the list? It will help with the non-ecool coldsides but really shines on the e-cool units.

5th injector is still via SS but the rest is the PC-Pro. Runs awesome. Dyno Friday.

Tom,

I'm interested depending on price. Currently, I think I'm going to buy a 105 pulley from you and see how it run with my bastardized WI setup.

My current setup is running so well right now that I hate to mess with it. After I sorted out all my problems, I promise myself that I would leave it all alone if I ever got it running right. But the power bug is biting again.

No problem with the 105. I seem to have a lot of those left. :) Actually, one of the other guys like Chip might even donat one. He is up to a 120mm and I don't think there is a chance of him ever going back to 105. :)

Kyp is dropping by next week. I will let him drive the 05 and report back if he thinks it is a wortwhile upgrade for the 01-05. Not a lot of value upgrading for the 94-00 but I am loving my 05 more each day. However, there will be no new cards until the 5th injector glitch is straightened out.

My goal is $300 exchange for those with non FFS 01-05 cars and JRPC. If you have an ELF it will be $2000 exchange. ;) Just kidding. I'll do the same for the ELF but don't know what to do with it when I get it back? Don't think there is much of a market for them? That $300 will get it pre-wired to the harness too. True PNP.

Any news on the SS front Tom?

All your talk about how well your '05 is running is making me ache. :D I'm going to pull some plugs tomorrow and take a look 'cause my '02 is running like they may be fouled from running too rich (bogging all over the place now between 2,500 and 4,000 rpm).

PS: I wouldn't have believed the gearing on a 5spd would get it up to 139mph. Also, can you take it a little easy on the loud pedal until you get the JRPC-Pro Out the door. We need you in one piece (and we like you that way too) :D

Actually, Tom has a 6 speed with a different ratio in the diff.

Tom @ Fast Forward
08-06-2006, 10:52 PM
We had 2 software issues and one hardware issue. The hardware and one softwaare issue were resolved Friday. All that is left is the 5th injector part. I might just get a few of the modules and send them out with a new map for the SS and let you use it that way for awhile. Runs purrfect that way. I'll know more this week.

That 139 was in the 99 with 6 speed and 3.636 diff. I think it has a 160 in it. One of these days....... ;)

Here's a picture of my Iridium plugs. I don't have much experience with fouled plugs. They look ok to me. Maybe my '02 just runs too rich for the JRPC. I guess we'll see when I install the Pro.

Look good to me as well. If it was too rich the ceramic would be black. Too lean and the ceramic would be bleached white.

Tom,

First of all, thanks for taking the time to talk to me during your lunch stop during your drive home a week or so ago. Very nice of you, all things considered.

What's the status on your PC Pro / E-Cool setup for MP62 Hotside kits on '01+s? I'm waiting with baited and unboosted breath. Based on the performance of the mystery box on my kit, I'm afraid to run boosted until I get something that I know is doing what it should.

Thanks for any info you're willing to share,
Jim

Jim,

You are welcome to call with questions at any time. I try to help no matter whose product.

The software and hardware have been fixed but I am waiting for one of the corrected versions to test. After that (next week?) I should have some coming in. As soon as I get the replacements out to my current customers, I will have them up for sale. I have a box full of the harnesses already just waiting for the units to arrive. I am taking my time with this because I want it to go out correct the first time. I think we should be in full swing by the end of September at the latest. I hope to have all of the 99-05 FFS customers swapped out in the next couple weeks. After I test and confirm that the units are working correctly, it will just be a matter of how quickly they can supply.
