I just installed an Autometer short sweep electric water temp sensor in the upper radiator hose.

I am reading around 210F.

I have a PWR radiator and stock fans.

What are your temps?

I have a Koyo 37mm with the top hose from the back of the engine (see reroute thread) and a 180* tstat. I usually am at about 190-200 unless really hot and AC running, then about just under 210. I'm using 30% antifreeze and wetter. However the belt isn't on yet so no real load on the cooling. The oil is staying pretty cool too without an oil cooler. I don't remember exactly, but around 220 I think.

I plan on adding the oil pan replacement nut/sender from Autometer the next time I do an oil change whihc should be in the next 1000 miles. Then I'll have a working oil temp gauge.

My oil temps stay around 210 for normal driving and it goes to about 225 after a hard autocross run. I don't do track days, so I can't comment on that yet. Gary at TDR says you can expect to see around 250-260 on the track and that's when you know it's time to do a cool down lap.

Chuck,

I bought one of the drain plug adapters planning to use it. It ends up hanging the end of the sender pretty low. This was with the Westach sender which is quite small. I ended up putting the sensor in my oil cooler (Earls 10 row, wide, 11" cooler) take-off block. TDR shows another location on the passenger side on the front of the block, supposedly tapped 1/8NPT. I am not sure just what it taps into. My oil temp is right at 200 F just running around the relatively cool beach area here in LA, only occasionally into boost. I also have the Koyo 37 mm rad. I'm waiting for some hardware to complete the heater valve bypass job. I'm installing my water temp sender as part of that. Will report water temps later.

Heater valve? After talking to Tom, I decided to bypass my heater core but just by sticking a pipe or maybe the thing my temp sender is mounted in (off a junk car) between the 2 hoses going to the heater. I hope it doesn't get too cold in San Antonio that I need a heater anymore.

After breaking my heater core and bypassing it during the SC install, I thought I could get away with no heater as well. I have no AC though and when it rains, running the fan on defrost with no heat or AC just won't keep the windows clear.

Installed my Westach water temp gauge this past weekend. I installed it in the heater line outlet from the back of the head. Now temps stabilized, I'm running 200F for both water and oil.

The weather's been brutal here though.................... Low 70's, clear, breeze off the ocean.

Man!! I feel sorry for you. The weather here is 101 with a lot of nice juicy humidity and plenty of traffic to keep things interesting, just like cones in an auto cross. :D

I installed the 160F thermostat from Moss a few weeks back. Out here it seems to have made zero difference. However, Saturday at Arroyo Seco in NM, the temps were in the mid-80s and the water temp was nicely left of center (~2 pointer's widths) on the gauge. Normally, out here, it is a pointer's width right of center.

Same here, temp needle to the left of center. I had to upgrade some hose clamps due to the added pressure of the new radiator.
