CMP Non Miata Footage

While I wait on the alternator to arrive thought I woud post this 4 minute video. Not my Miata but my 1989 NASA xCMC Mustang track car attempting to follow a Spec Racer Ford (1670# and 100 RWHP vs 3100# and approx 235 RWHP). Fun ... but this was at the end of 15 laps I had run and I was getting tired (old people know when to back off when everything is not going right!!). Enjoy!

How does the Miata stack up to that?

Pretty close for lap time ... with in a second per lap. Just happens in different places due to weight difference, brakes, corner speeds, etc. I'm probably braver in the Mustang with seat, cage, 5 point harness than I am in the Miata without all that. Mustang I think is a little harder to drive fast than the Miata. Mustang would be quicker if it were equiped with a torque arm and coil overs. As it stands it does have a panhard bar with race springs in the stock locations. It is what it is and I have to quit after about 2 hours track time as I am worn out.

Kind of like me with the Corvettes and then the Formula Ford. The FF doesn't go fast but it also doesn't slow much for the turns either.

When the SRF was behind me he could not get around due to me messing up his brake zones (mine were longer) and probably his corner speed. He was doing some testing so I let him around so he had clear track. We did have fun though!
