Had Tom and Bill as early morning visitors today. They took my 91 for her pre-op drive back to the shop for the #2 1.6 coldside install  " Standby for news!! "

here is the kit almost ready to go on the car. The 1.6L kits will ship assembled and the installer can install the injectors on the bech along with the FPR and install it all with just 9 nuts. The rest of the install should be almost as easy. Please note that the engine in the pictures is an old piece of scrap we borrowed from Mike's Place in Phoenix to test fit parts.

I will have better pictures tomorrow with the throttle body, under brace, FPR, etc.

We are doing an oil change on your blower too. Just wanted it to start off fresh. Bill also cleaned the pistons and will do an oil change once it is running. We are a full service shop, huh. ;)

WOW You guys dont screw around ! Just a heads up though, the engine oil ( M1 5-30 and filter ) both have less than 300 miles on it

He used a little kerosene to clean the pistons and we don't want it to go far on that. We'll do the M1 for you.

ps. wait 'till you see the bill for all of this. ;)

More importantly, how does it drive?

Well, it was making good power and drove smooth as glass and idled perfectly, etc.

After a dozen runs on the dyno running great, one of the old heater hoses at the rear of the engine let go and dumped all of the coolant at WOT. Before anyone could react, it cooked piston #1. All happened in just a second. Hose was rotted from the inside. Just one of those things. When we get it out, we will check to see if the head is warped too. They don't last long with no coolant. Shit happens (and with that car, it happens often. I am convinced it is possessed.). :( We'll have it back together in a couple weeks. It was running so great too. It seems that it is the little things that bite you. 103F ambient didn't help either.

At least it did it on the dyno, at a shop, and not in the middle of the stinking hot desert...

....Probably one of those JDM heater hoses. ;) Sorry Dan, but sometimes you just gotta laugh. All will be good in the end and Elphaba will be running with the Mustang GT's.

Sorry, I meant how are things going along the lines of overcoming the minor setback? $hit happens but I know how much skill, determination, and perseverance you guys have. I have faith that all will be as it should be in relatively short order. It's just time…

The kit is ready to go. Look for a charge on your CC this weekend and I'll order the blower Monday.

Any chance you can post the final pictures of the components, and the install, particularly the air intake setup.

Tom @ Fast Forward
06-21-2010, 07:52 AM
It looks just like any of the other kits. The air intake goes over the top of the engine just like the others.

The set of pictures here were taken with the blower hung on an old engine we used for dimensioning parts.

Here are a couple in the car. The hoses on the passenger side of the car get cleaned up tomorrow.

What are the RPMs at 30, 60 and 90 MPH. I'm at about 3000 at 60, just wondering how much of a drop with the increased HP and Torque.

Tom @ Fast Forward

As RPM vs Speed is a direct result of the gearing, HP/Tq has no effect.
