Hi everyone, I'm George and I plan to buy a FFS CS for my '95 very soon I've sent Tom an email with these questions and others but maybe some of you that have a NA have an answer as well.

Do any of you know of an oil filter relocation kit that will work with our cars and a ColdSide? The Moss one I have is on the firewall on the passenger side and I'm sure with the supercharger I won't be able to keep it there.

Right now I have a Racing Beat 4-1 header, freeflow cat and the Candoo IV exhaust ( the one that lets you put the spare under the car). If I can get use to driving around without a spare I want to get the FM dual exhaust. I know it's a long shot but do any of you have this combo of the RB header, freeflow cat and FM dual exhaust? If so what does it sound like and how loud is it. I know it's something I'll have to hear for myself but I'd like to know if someone thinks it's way too loud or sounds great.

Even a longer shot do any of you happen to have a Koyo 55mm radiator with after market fans and if so is there a clearance problem with either the supercharger pulley on the crank or the belt?

Thanks, George

Inspector,

Tom's out on the track this weekend with his 99 10AE so he may not be able to reply to you right away. But, he should be off track pretty soon.

I can help a little. As for the Koyo/fan thing...the SC nose pulley doesn't protrude any farther than the alternator or crank pulleys so I can't see any trouble there. I belive Tom has moved his oil filter to the drivers side near the fender. I'll leave the rest for those who know better.

Thanks, I didn't think the pulley would be a problem but thought I'd ask. I saw one oil filter relocator kit for the NB, I think from Thompson that moves it to where the fan relays are on my car. I didn't know Tom was out having fun!! I didn't expect to hear back from him for a while I sent a very long message with lots of questions.

Another question while I'm here. I do have a new clutch, presure plate and light weight flywheel to install but mine is working fine now. It has about 50K on it from me but I don't know when if ever it's been changed. Are you guys doing ok with the stock clutch or is this an upgrade that most people do?

George

George,

Unless you're made of money, stay with the stock clutch for now. I changed my stock clutch after I hit 202 HP and it lasted about 2 weeks after that.

The dyno showed that my clutch wasn't able to hold that extra power so I got a Spec Stage 2.

Also, last year I ordered the filter relo kit from Summit Racing - the same one that most places sell for twice as much. When I received it, I returned it because I didn't trust the quality of the kit.

There are apparently only TWO relo kits that are very well made from what I've read - Thompsens and Flyin Miata. IIRC, I think Tom has had the FM relo kit for a while.

George,

Sorry for the delay in responding but I took the weekend off to go give my 11 year old grandson a thrill at Arroyo Seco. Ari should have some good video of my one error :) as he was behind me and had his camera on.

There is no problems with any exhaust headers. I added the Moss/JR oil filter relocation kit and oil cooler a couple years ago when I had the hotside and it has no problems with the coldside either. I also have had the PWR big radiator from the early days of boost and it has plenty of clearance. So far the only interference problem has been since I added the RB front big swaybar, I can no longer change crank pulleys without removing it from one end. For nost people that is not a problem as they pick a pulley size and stay with it.

You will enjoy the coldside. 94-97 with 9:1 CR are a lot of fun to boost. :)

Tom,

Glad you had a good weekend and that it was caught on tape! I'll be giving you a call either tomorrow ( depending how busy I am with work) or Tuesday ( I have the day off ) IIRC AZ doesn't do the time change thing ( lived in Prescott 81-84 ). Is there a 3 hour time difference now between you and the East Coast this time of year?

The telephone number is my cell and is always available. Don't hesitate to call anytime. We are on CA time now. You are correct, we are now one of two states that don't change the clock. used to be three but Indiana gave up last year, I believe.

Hi George,

The Thompson kit is a sweet piece, but unfortunately it does not fit on NA cars. I've spoken with them a few times and they are in no rush to complete a kit for the NA. I'm not impressed with the other offerings out there so I'm putting a kit together myself.

Steve, Great please keep me informed. I'll know for sure once I install the CS kit but it just doesn't look to me like it will fit with the oil filter/hoses on the passenger firewall like it is now.

Tom, I'm waiting to see if my phone comes back. I get it over my cable the computer and TV are fine but the phone's been out at least 6am. I could call from my cell but I get really bad reception here.

Anyway, with 146,xxx miles on the car I just did a compression check and it was 1-167, 2-180, 3-167 and 4-180 did it a second time dry again didn't do it wet and got the same numbers except #1 was 177 this time so I don't know if I did something a little different or not. I'll talk with you on the phone soon but I figure those numbers gives me the OK to do this.

Of course there is always something, shouldn't have done it a second time. all went well till the last one second time around. I took the hose out and didn't realize the bottom part that connects to the bottom of the hose and screws into the spark plug hole was still in there. That was until I put the spark plug back in and thought to myself boy that seems a lot higher then the others. It took a while with thoughts of old spark plugs with crazy glue or buying really long thin needle nose plies that would let me get a grip on it. I found an easy out reverse bit I had and with a collection of sockets, extension and duct tape got it out. So what would have been 20 minutes became close to 2 hours. Which is why I expect the 8-10 install will be more like 30 to 40.

Anyhow I should be calling you later or tomorrow with my order!!

George, thanks for the order.

I just installed Vonage this Monday and Monday night we had a tgerrible storm and it knocked out Verizon Wireless down here (my cell carrier) and Cox Cable (my cable modem carrier) so we were also without phones for a bit. Never rains but it pours, so to speak. Although we get the wind and dust but seldom the water.

Welcome to the coldside. :) Your kit should go out Friday.

Great! I'm very excited about it. When you know it please tell me the tracking number so I can watch it get closer and close, actually so maybe ( depending on work ) I can have my car up on jack stands and have as much of the taking off of stuff done when it gets here.

But work will probaly get inthe way :(

Work has a tendency to do that. :)

I will email tracking numbers to you as soon as it ships.

Hi Tom,

Just checked my phone and it's working again so I called my credit card company and told them to expect a charge of $ 3,695 on either Friday or Monday from Fast Forward Superchargers. So there should be no problem with that.

You were more worried about it than I was. :) I don't charge the credit card until UPS is here to get the shipment.

I just didn't want there to be a hold up because they couldn't get in touch with me on my home phone because it wasn't working. It's been in and out for the last few days but yesterday was the first time it was out for the whole day.
