I was speaking with one of the forum members, who mentioned that it would have been good to put whiteout on critical bolts so that they can be inspected in the future to see if they've been working loose. Aircraft mechanics use products like Torque Seal for this purpose, which I'd imagine holds up much better than whiteout. It's available at aircraft-supply stores, including here: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/f900.php.

Btw, is there a list of fasteners that should be marked this way?

Anybody have any of the bolts unscrew by themselves? I haven't but it sounds like a neat idea. You should use loctite blue on all of the bolts. We had one customer the other day that had a couple of the bolts that hold the tensioner bracket to the front of the blower loosen but I'm pretty sure they were not loctited and not properly torqued.
