I finally started on getting the SC project on its way. I had no idea having a 1 year old rug rat can take up so much of my "garage" time.
The whole process that would normally take about an hour took me two Saturdays. Well, I was in no hurry and also ran into problem disconnecting the fuel lines without that special tool.
I end up cutting up a few large zip ties and fashioned my own fuel line disconnect tool ... which worked like a charm. I also took a little extra time to make a customized pig tail from the OEM fuel pump harness to connect to the Welbro by carefully taking the ends apart and re-attach them (it was a PITA though). I pry the connections apart with a combination of dental picks, tiny glasses screw driver and an auger. Once the wires are restripped and connected, it looked very solid. For some reason I just hate the idea of butt connecting them in a tank of gasoline .... it doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling.
I did reuse the lock washer to secure the fuel pickup after learning it will cost me $13 and change plus tax and travel to the dealership (that's crazy for a 1/4" size lock washer). Pryed it off carefully and hammered it back in shape .... voila, an extra $15 in my pocket.
Got everything back together and test started with a 20# fire distinguisher on the side. Good news ... no insurance claim necessary. Buddy of mine wants to borrow the Miata for a date today ... so he can go test it and I wn't be the one end up getting stuck out there. LMAO
