Well, you see a lot of different drivers on the road when you drive 5000 miles. The worst are tailgaters. Driving down in southern Illinois towards Cairo I had one I just couldn't shake. Going faster or slower just didn't work. Then, a few miles before the border, as we wwere climbinga long grade at 80 in a 70 MPH zone, my V1 started to beep. So, just before the crest, I lifted and dropped to ~65. Finally, he moved to the left lane and stepped on it to pass. As he crested the hill, the V1 went beeeeeeeeeep. Sometimes there is justice. :) I know it was cruel but he was not more than a few feet from the back bumper for 30-40 miles.

Cruel, perhaps, but, it really sounds like he deserved it! And, I do call that justice!

I can't remember a time when I witnessed someone doing something like that and actually get caught. Maybe he should have had a radar detector?

I think everyone should own a V1. :) Here's my story:

6 years ago I was out at the old BRP and wefour of us were going to the GAP. Brant had the lead with his S2K and the rest of us had Miatas. He had a VI and I had the rear with my Escort. It started to rain and we all pulled off to put the tops up. I, unfortunately, had my boot on. They took off back onto the highway and left me behind as I got the top back up. Soooooo, I stood on it (had my prototype CS) and caught them in short order. However, I was flying low. As luck would have it, coming the other way was a SC State Trooper. The road was divided with a low fence. Brant picked up his FRS and said the trooper had hit his radar. I responded that it was me he hit. We kept going and Brant again called out on his FRS that the trooper was behind us and closing. My Escort was fat dumb and happy and had nothing. With that, a sign popped up that said exit 1 mile, next exit 15 miles. I responded in my FRS that I was getting off. :) Everybody exited and we dropped down under the overpass. A few seconds later, he flew over the top of us with lights going. As he couldn't turn around for 15 miles, we waved goodby and took back roads for a bit.

When I got back home, I sold the Escort and bought the V1. It is now 6 years old and has saved me the cost of it over and over and over and over and ....... Rear sensing radar is worth it's weight in gold. I would never have known he was behind and closing if it wasn't for Brant's V1. Probably time for an updated version but, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. :)

I've had a V1 for a couple of years and it has paid for itself many times over. In our province the police can seize your car for excessive speed and dangerous driving if you are travelling 40 kph (25 mph) over the posted limit.

The V1 is a pretty reliable gizmo. Mine will alert me before the patrol car is in sight (as in around a curve, or over the crest of a hill).
