View Full Version : Pricing

Over the last 8 years I have added hundreds of dollars of things to make the kit better and stronger and have had one price increase that didn't even cover the cost of the added materials. Yesterday, February 1 2012, Magnuson informed me that effective immediately, prices were going up. The increase will be almost 50%. Based on that, I am suspending all published prices until I can work out what will happen to the pricing. Until now, we have not only had the best all around kit on the Miata market but also one of the cheapest $/HP Miata kits.
More to follow.

Whatever you decide I'm sure it will be fair.

Totally agree that whatever the price will be it will the lowest Tom will be able to offer for the kit. Too bad he is confronted with this issue.

Jim,
I have no idea. I have been asking about the TVS for almost 2 years. What I get is that it is coming soon. I have been told the TVS900 is a bolt on replacement but have not seen or held one. More important, I have not tested one. Even more important than that, I have not heard a price as yet.
My opinion is that it may be more efficient but that is like saying water is more efficient than fuel for cooling. Yes, maybe, but that is immaterial if fuel is sufficient for our application. IMHO, the MP62 is more than efficient enough for our application. As it is a TVS900, we will have to spin it faster to make the same power, right??? It is all about the mass of air we can stuff into the engine. Yes, it may be a bit cooler but it is only giving 900cc per revolution and the MP62 is pushing 1000cc per revolution. I may be way off base but that sounds pretty close to 10% less air. That means we would need about 115mm crank pulley to make the same air mass. That means that you should be looking at 12,500 RPM for the TVS900 as compared to 11,300 on the MP62. Now, if they were talking the TVS1050, that would be a horse of a different color.
For me, I am spinning the MP62 up to 14,400 (Magnuson rated top is 16,000)and would have to spin the TVS up to just shy of 16,000. Which would you rather have?
I think there is no advantage to the TVS900 for the standard 190 kit. If it costs more and gives no advantage, why do it?? I wonder if that is why they are raising the price so drastically on the MP62? To make the TVS price not look so bad? Just don't know???

Wow Tom, 50% is steep, and you did not even get a heads up!
That is crazy talk!

Subscribing to see how this plays out. Coldside is on my list of things to purchase soon for the '99 since it's daily driver duties have been replaced by a beautiful Galaxy Gray '08 MX5. Good luck to us Tom.
