I only installed one Spal fan on the driver side and didn't wire it in parallel, but man this thing runs nice and cool under pretty adverse conditions. A/C full blast 98* and running hard. I got the stage 1, but I think it'll be enough for anything I'll be dishing out. Just thought I'd put the bug in the ear of anyone who has been thinking about it. Easy to install and cheap insurance for $200.

It sounds like you got the Spal from FM?
I was thinking about this one:

Yup, mine's the FM single unit. For $35 more you're getting a duell. Looks pretty nice.

looks nice, will it bolt right in?
I see the cfm is 2780, how does that compare to stock cfm.
What is the stock cfm?

I don't think this is a PnP. I read of a guy on M.Net that got it to fit, but he did some trimming. The link shows a PDF file with the exact dimensions but I have not had a chance to go measure my PWR rad yet.
As for the OEM fans:
Main fan: 1400 CFM, 6.3A draw
A/C fan: 1320 CFM, 5.2A draw.

Hmm. That can't be right can it? The Spals and the OEM are almost the same. :?:

I wonder if the Spals are 2780 each?

Nope, it's apparently for both fans.
But, I've checked before and I've checked the SPAL website again and I just can't seem to find any SPAL fans that are rated at 1975 cfm like on FM's site. I've looked at 11" and 12" and the closest is 16xx cfms. Hmm.

I've got the big Koyo and the width and depth seem alright but it is a little
tall at 16 1/4". that would be an easy mod to fit.
The cfm has to be better for us to make the switch though.

All I can say is that the Koyo 55mm we put in ThomS car was able to sit at idle in the sun in 110F heat with the hood closed and the AC full blast and it never got up to 'normal'. That was with stock fans. I think the radiator is more important than the fans.

I agree. I need to investigate this further.

I started with the install of the 37mm Koyo and although it did take longer for the system to thouroghly warm up, on a hot day on long grades and sometimes in stop-go traffic temps would start to climb. I agree if you have heat trouble the radiator is the place to start. Especially if your stock unit is 5-6 years old and you have significant mileage (over 75k miles). For some reason after a rad switch, t-stat and rad cap change, I still had occasional issues. I went with the spal as a last ditch effort. It has made a difference.

Don't forget to check out your A/C condenser.
My condenser was clogged with small stones (they looked liked crushed coral) and other junk and the air could not get through to the radiator. I replaced the condenser with an aftermarket unit from eBay and the radiator with a Koyo 37 mm.
My car never overheats, even on track days. But, I do live in Ohio and 110-degree days just don't happen too often, if ever.
