OK. After an almost 2 week hiatus, I got back onto the 05 yesterday. All I can say is that the changes we implemented are awesome. No more cold start issues. It was 60 this AM and I inserted the key and started without touching the gas pedal and, voila, no problem. The exhaust valve appears unstuck (temperatures across the four exhaust runners are uniform). Accelerates like 190 WHP should. Have not had the VCTS error for a couple days after inserting the other check valve and a small device to add a 1/2 cubic inch of vacuum storage. I think it might need to be larger?

Anyhow, I am feeling better about CARB now. What we learned was that fussing with the O2 clamp made the transitions from vacuum to boost work well but really screwed up the long term and short term fuel compensation by the ECU/PCM if you stay in light boost for an extended period. The new control method (shh! :)) eliminates that and still makes the transition seamless.

Maybe I'll have to take my bride and suffer through another ride through the twisties into the mountains fo a cold cold start. Then suffer through the twisties coming back home. But I am willing to do it for all you Californians. ;) All in the interest of science, doncha know.

Looks like the only thing that could bite us now is the VCTS code if it randomly appears. I will try to find a small (2x2x2 or even 1x2x2) tank that I can use for vacuum storage to get the volume up a bit from the dinky thing I found at Autozone. Hobby shop model airplane gas tank? Suggestions?

Last but not least is the 5th injector. Not connected at this point. I will work on that next. Add fuel there and remove it at the main injectors like the other kits. Well, back to it.

Tom,

The model airplane fuel tanks are made to handle mild pressure only, a few psi. They are not going to like vacuum at all. Some are even intentionally soft, so they conform slightly under pressure. Waaaay back in the olden days there were some soldered metal tanks made by Perfect, who also made chemistry sets. Remember those? But they are long gone. I would look for an off the shelf vacuum resevoir from some domestic vehicle. I seem to remember something about people using a Jeep vacuum resevoir to solve a cruise control problem, where it went to sleep on long uphill grades. Summit and others sell resevoirs, but there not real cheap:

One thing the model plane guys are doing that might be applicable is using the light weight aluminum containers that hair mousse comes in to build mufflers. If you could get your hands on the unfilled cans, cut off the dispenser and weld in a tube, that would work well. Onesey, twosey is a PITA, but doing a few dozen at a time might be viable.

Hmm. We did John's 02 the same as my 05. He just called and siad he got the 1512 code this AM. :( So far, no codes on mine.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you think the small fuel filter would have a chance?
