I started her up for the first time tonight. It ran remarkably smooth!

Then coolant started spewing from the idle air controller and I had to shut her down. I will buy a new gasket tomorrow.

Got my fuel leaks fixed with some more new o-rings.

Tom - The Split Second did not have a program in it like you suspected. I was able to download the maps you sent me and confirmed that it took.

Tomorrow I will get to test it further!

Awesome. I love it when a plan comes together. Sorry about the map.

I am thinking of just using RTV as the gasket on the IAC. Any reason not to? I cannot see the rubber "ring" staying in place no matter how much pressure I put on the screws.

Yep. A thin film of the ultra black that you used for the other gaskets is the way to go.

You should change the manual to say that instead of reusing the old gasket. I don't think there is any way the old gasket would ever hold.

Thanks, I will add it to the next generation of the manual.

The line about retain the old gasket is a leftover from the later years and I missed taking it out of the 94-97 manual.

Got the IAC reinstalled and no more leaks.

It started immediately and idled perfect. This was my biggest worry as my other Miata (97 with BRP Stage 2 hotside) idles really inconsistantly.

Took for a test drive and I can't wipe the grin off my face. The power is smooth and strong.

The feel is the same, yet completely different than stock. When driving without pushing it, it runs like it always did. But when I give it some gas, the power is there - right now!

Still need to adjust the timing, so I have not taken it up in the power band yet. But is it really strong up to 4500 RPM or so. Tomorrow I will borrow a timing light and adjust back down to 10 from 16.

I also need to install the gauges. I bought a boost, air/fuel and oil temp gauge. I am planning on mounting them under the radio.

That's what I like to hear. :)
