I know this may be a bit cheeky...

But I have been offered a cheap MP62 BRP hotside for a '94...

This comes with their BTB (apparently there was no other option)

As their BTB sucks, can I fit one of yours ?

Indeed will you sell me one and how much ?

Do I need anything else ?

Griff, I have sold several BTB kits to BRP hotside owners. There is more to it than just replacing the stock TB. I get $500 for the kit and it includes the BBK BTB, Cast BTB adaptor, 3" hose, IAC relocate kit, Rear SC mounting bracket to match the BTB adaptor, and fittings.

Let me know. Temporarily out of stock but should have them in a couple days.

That sounds fine.

If it comes my way, I'll be in touch.

Thanks

I have a complete BTB kit that Tom has sold me, new, still in the box.

I've decidied to go a different route, so if you're interested, PM me.

I can ship it this weekend.

I'm sure I will be able to supply other parts for the BRP hotsides after we get our kit on the street. Gary at TDR should be able to do the same as he will also be re-selling the Moss hotsides.

My BTBs are back in stock so I am now shippiing those kits again. Mike's kit is the same. If you want a BTB hotside upgrade, do Mike a favor and buy his. It is new. I just sent it to him a couple weeks back.

I was just curious as to why you decided not to install it.

Tell me you didn't say to yourself..."I'm really happy with the power I'm making and I don't really need any more"........:)

I'm in no hurry Tom. You can ship my BTB kit whenever. I'm installing a J&S ultrasafeguard next week and then I'm putting the 115mm pulley back on. I might as well take advantage of the cool weather.

Yes, but I've decidied to keep it. I can't resist the urge for more power!

Sorry!

Thats why I asked. I have the urge......Maybe I can get Santa (wife) to send me one for xmas. She hasn't driven the car since the last round of upgrades. She is going to be surprised, pleasantly I hope.

Tom, you need that online store. Gotta help the people that have urge so they can click and buy :)

Yeah, that's all I need - the instant gratification. I used all my willpower to walk away from Tom's house the last time WITHOUT that 120mm pulley. lol

Are there any additional products that you envision marketing to BRP hotside owners? I am interested in your BTB, and am wondering if you have any plans to offer an auto-tensioner for our kits as well. As has been previously noted elsewhere in the Miata community, it would be refreshing to have a consistent source for upgrades.

(It would also be quite convenient to have a parts list of any applicable parts for reference purposes.)

Thanks,
John

Tom does sell the auto tensioner for the hotside. Give him a call.

I believe the blower pulley is included in the auto tensioner kit for correct belt alignment. The crank pulley does not need to be changed, but some have changed their crank pulley too for improved belt traction. The anodize also protects the pulley against wear.

I ordered the crank and the nose pulley when I ordered the autotensioner with my hotside.

The look and feel of the old/new is a world of difference. One way to check is to do a finger test on the old pulley and see if it feels 'sharp'. Mine would seem like they would cut right thru the belt. Mine was a used kit and I replaced them before the install.

Tom's pulleys have a flat area between each grove, not sharp like the other, you well get better grip I would think and if you have the 4 groove pulleys like my buddies had, Tom's is six.
