Tom -
Have you done any testing as to how much the E Cool reduces intake temps?
The FM site took some before and after temps of water injection. The WI lowers the temps about 100*F.

Chuck,
I can lower the temps anywhere from a few degrees, all the way down to ambient. Here is some video I shot when the temps in Arizona were hot.

How I have it set it to allow the main injectors to do the bulk of the work and supply roughly 95% of the required fuel and the E-Cool to simply take the peak heat off the incoming charge air. Roughly 50F. I found that under 200F, ping all but disappears. I know you can make more power by cooling the charge further but it seems that cooling the charge further doesn't help ping. Engine heat is the cause of ping beyond that point and can only be cured with a good/great radiator.
With Chuck's car, he was on the verge of ping with 91 octane, a big pulley and hot Arizona days. He added a W/A IC and it made zero difference even though we all know that it lowered the charge air temperature. We have also tested making the E-Cool lower the charge air all the way to ambient (REAL RICH) and it doesn't help either. You simply reach a point where ONLY removing engine heat does the trick.
BTW, when I did those E-Cool tests shown in the video, I was using the JRPC and it was not adjustable. As we super cooled the air, we were so rich as to not run well. As I can now lean it out (PC-Pro), maybe I should go back and re-visit those tests? All I do know as fact is that cooling the charge a small amount takes the edge off of ping. Cooling it further may help HP but will do nothing for ping.
