Hi All - Me'n'Her did the Sahuaro Miata Club Grand Canyon overnighter. Perfect weather, great views of the Canyon, wonderful dinner at the El Tovar... Somehow She recorded 22 mpg on the way to Flagstaff through Oak Creek (clean). Together, we ran out a tank of gas from Flagstaff to the Canyon, back to Flagstaff, back throught Oak Creek (traffic), over Mingus mountain (clean), and back to Phoenix getting 335 miles out of the tank and averaging 29.7 mpg :!: (A/C on) The ability to complete smooth clean passes in the itty bitty passing zones provided on 'back country' state highways is immensely satisfying. Not dropping to second gear for the 20 mph hairpins on Mingus was a real eye opener.
1,000 ft elevation in Phoenix to 8,000 ft elevation on the shoulder of Humphreys Peak. Car just runs great.
WE are more and more pleased with the Fast Forward Supercharger all the time.
Next road trip, Colorado in June. 12,000 ft here we come!
Thx Lyle

Sounds fun! These kits just keep on pleasing you at everything they do don't they? I've actually walked down the block to grab a neighbor so I could take him for a ride. I had promised myself that the Miata was going to be retired to weekend duty...HA. I'm commuting in it Monday.
Hey Lyle, was your Goodwin pipe a bolt in? and are you happy with it? I may order one Monday morning.

Hi Pat - Yes, the Goodwin mid-pipe is bolt-in. I have an old Racing Beat 4-2-1 header on one end and added their Power Pulse muffler Thursday.
I had left the stock muffler in place because I wanted a 'quiet' touring car, but after the Fast Forward install I discovered the exhaust note had turned braatty when the car was exercised. The Power Pulse cured the brat, lowered the tone, and restored the 'quiet' touring car image. This change again received Susan's approval, and this from the woman who didn't want to be heard coming down the street on the way home from school... :D

I'm surprised she let's you drive it at all. :)
Sorry we missed that run but other duties took first place. I'd like to hear that under load. My stock muffler is pretty quiet on the highway under cruise.
Coldside - Canyon carving at it's finest.

I have a Power Pulse on there now, but it's been on for about 70k miles and I blew a small hole in it coming home from Phoenix. I think it's a great choice for this kit because of it's conservative yet deeper sound. Thanks for the input on the Goodwin unit! I'll order mine today and get my missing RWHP back.

Tom -
Both the stock muffler and the Power Pulse are plenty quiet putzing 'round town and cruising. Where the Power Pulse sounds better is under load over 4,000 rpm, when the stock piece kind of changes to what I considered an irritating bratz (Borla like?). The PP maintains the purr all the way to redline AND no annoying drone either. Of course the stock muffler was 7 years old and a refreshed stock part may have provided a similar result...?

Guess I need a ride in your wife's car. :)
Only reason I went back to stock was to have peace and quiet at cruise. It was a key to my new T1R tires as well. They are also dead quiet. Makes the radio and conversation at highway speeds very easy.
