I posted this on the miata.net forum, but I felt that it was worth it to post here also.

Quick background:
I have one of the first MP62 coldside setup when it was sold by BRP. On my 01, it came with the ELF, 95/65mm pulley and no extra injector. With this setup, I was only able to make ~150whp with lots of ping.

I then added water injection, J&S ultrasafeguard, and increase the pulley to 100mm. I was able to get ~170whp, but still had to retard timing after 7psi to avoid ping.

I then went up to a 105mm pulley, added alcohol to the water injection, and was able to run that with a little more timing retard.

Then Tom as FFS came out with the PC-Pro. I couldn't decide whether I wanted to upgrade, or wait till the revised ELF comes out. But decided to bite the bullet and plunk down money for the PC-pro as it had great first reviews.

Tom shipped it the same day that it was ordered. I bought it without the wiring harness as I'm a cheap bastard and the extra $200 could be use for other upgrade (bad mistake). When it arrived 2 days later, I quickly hacked up my wiring harness and install the thing. Well, I was in too much of a rush and crossed a couple of wires, the car missfired badly. After I straighten that out, the car still ran like crap. It would add fuel at idle and was very erratic.

After talking to Tom (at 11pm on a Saturday night), it was decided that I had the wrong map, so he contacted MOSS and had them drop ship me a programming module (no charge to me). Keep in mind that this module is not even for sale to the general public. Well, after reprogramming the thing, the car still ran like "crap." It was decided at this point that I had a malfunctioning PC pro. Whether it was like that from the factory, or because of my initial cross wiring, I don't know. But Tom graciously sent me another one, this time prewired to a $200 wiring harness. Even though I didn't pay for the wiring harness, Tom insisted on giving me one free of charge to eliminate any possibility of miss wiring again.

Well, it arrived a few days later, hook up was a breeze, and now the car runs beautifully. Off boost, the car runs like stock, transition into boost is seamless. And it pulls hard all the way to redline. Also, I was able to run the car without any timing retard. There's just no ping like there was before.

I will dyno it shortly, but as of right now, I'm am very happy with the PC pro, and especially with the service that FFS has provided. Keep in mind that the only money I ever spend directly with FFS was for a pulley or two ($120 total) and the PC pro. I bought my kit from BRP. And yet Tom still gave me excellent service. In fact, by not charging me for the wiring harness, I think overall, I cost him money.

Anyways, as usual, no affiliation, just a very happy customer.

Like you I am a cheap...I'm not sure I want to go that far but I'm cheap. I haven't yet chopped up the wires, but I'm going to soon.

Do you know what wires you mixed up? I don't plan on doing that but I want to be especially careful if there are destructive combinations.

Are you going to, or did you, put the suspect PC pro back in to see if it is farkled or not?

The first pc-pro was definitely FUBAR. I blame it on MOSS. If you look at the PC pro carefully, you'll see that on the first set of wires, the wires go in first, then out, then on the second set of wires after the vacuum hose, they reverse directions. Stupid me, I assume that they all went the same directions, in first, then out.

Aha!!! I'm glad you pointed that out. I may have made the same mistake (or not) depending on how the instructions read. I may read them before I start. I have started doing that in my old age as opposed to the way I used to do things. Quite often in these modern times, things are not as we would assume.

The wires do follow the theme of solid color in and striped color out for all pairs. However, I am pretty sure that I will only be selling them on a harness in the future.

There is no customer service on this planet like Tom / FFS has. HE is outstanding. Way to go Tom.. AGAIN.

I have a J&S ultrasafeguard. It can retard timing base on boost and also when it senses knock.
