View Full Version : PcPro with auxilary injector

Now that we are nearing the end of the month, it is time to think about my February Miata expendatures.
I plan to buy a PcPro in February and am trying to decide if I should purchase it with the extra injector (e-cool?).
My preference would be to not run an extra injector, but as Bill said I am probably nearing the limit of what the stock injectors can handle (115/65 pulleys, 201 rwhp). It is also likely my March Purchase will be a BTB which will raise the HP and boost.
I was going to send a PM to Tom, but thought it might be a good topic of discussion. I guess my quesitons are:
1) Is there an advantage to purchase it all at once? I believe Tom said buying it at once would result in it all being wired. If so, what would the setup be like if I purchased it separetly, assuming I needed the extra fuel.
2) How does the PcPro know if you are adjusting the stock 4 injectors or the auxilary injector?
3) I assume there must be a way to connect/disconnect the wire because you will need to run the wires from the ECU, through the firewall to the injector, correct?
4) What kind of fuel rail is connected to the single injector? I assume you need to splice fuel lines to the injector as I did with the 4 injectors on my FMII.
5) I assume you install the injector in the DTB. Does the kit come with a DTB for the injector, or do I need to have my existing DTB drilled and tapped?
Any and all responses/advise welcome.

You will need 2 PC-Pros. One for the main injectors and one for the fifth.
I think you and I have the same DTB and there is not enough wall thickness to drill/tap for the fifth injector. I took mine to a local machine shop and had a bung welded to it.
The fuel to the fifth injector is supplied by removing an OEM section of fuel line and replacing it with a Tee that goes to the fifth injector.

Hmm, that seems to anwser every question but 3 (which is a no brainer) and possibly 1. Thanks for the info.
If I remember Tom's quote of $900, it certainly makes it cost effective to purchase all at once since it would include an extra injector and pcpro.
Oh hell, I don't want to spend $900 on new Engine management. I will look at it as $500 for a PcPRO and $400 for an injector and insurance :drool5:
Any other input?

Good Gawd Steve...yer starting to think like me and my replacing the BRP garbage! I'm keeping the R4 intake, and auto tensioner :cheers2:
And Serpico...I see why yer having possible boost problems...Are those RED IC pipes? J/K...They look alot better than the gray ones we both received...

Dazoom & Serpico, Some day we all need to meet for a drink. I am probably running the Marine Corps Marathon next fall in DC (for the 3rd time) , that may be our closest chance
We can bitch about the past and cheer the future :cheers2:

Hopefully, next Monday, I'll know if all the parts will work together! My car goes into Mazda tomorrow for a new clutch install. (SPEC II). Having the stock flywheel milled. While there, they will switch my oil over to Mobile 1, as I have like 2500 miles on the new engine, and they will install two pulleys from Tom. (65/130). Friday evening, I'll swap the plugs out to the BKR8EIX's that Tom recommends. I'll drive it easy, over the weekend, while breaking in the clutch, but, on Monday morning, I'll be at the dyno. I've already been told that the dyno isn't going to hurt that new clutch...I'll replace the ELF, and install the PC PRO, and have it tuned on the dyno. I'll be posting the dyno results on Monday.....

I think you guys should all get together here to meet and swap lies. I am going to have an open house, and perhaps a dyno day, Memorial Day weekend. I will post details later. We have a couple extra beds and plenty of floor space for sleeping bags.
3) The e-cool wires connect/disconnect at the PC-Pro.

I might be able to make that.

So i would have to buy an extra controller attachment to run an aux injector bummer. Anybody know if the SS's are back in stock.

I would be there in a minute Tom. Alas, it takes a lot of minutes from my house and I am under the crunch these days.
Dazoom we want those dyno plots. How did it go?

I now have one slightly used SS in stock that you could have for $150 if you want it.

PowerCard-Pro will soon release 6 and 8 cylinder cards. Will the fifth injector be able to be controlled by one PC-Pro (that is adding fuel for the 4 cylinders) or will a separate card be needed for separate programming of the fifth injector?
Would there be any way to interface a wideband oxygen sensor in the exhaust to a PC-Pro and get real time adjustment based on the reading --I am not a mechanic and know nothing about engines but thought this might be the next step even though I realize this would be a big deal to do There are enough smart guys on this forum to collaberate and do it if they set thier minds to it.

Lee,
I don't have any details on the next generation PC-Pro, so it is impossible for me to answer.
"Soon to be released" is interesting term. Remember, the PC-Pro I use is not released to the public yet.
I look forward to testing it when available but have no idea when that will be.
