:devil2: Motor should be at Mikes Place in Phoenix on Friday! http://forum.miata.net/vb/images/smilies/biggrin.gif Found this place: http://www.risingsunengines.com/ (http://www.risingsunengines.com/) They hot run JDM imports, not just crank compression check. Tested yesterday and Dude reports oil pressure ~60 and compression at 190 on all four. Its a long nose 1.6 Shame I had to do this. PC-Pro probably would have saved my #3 rings with better fuel control. http://forum.miata.net/vb/images/smilies/sad-smiley-040.gif SO... The MP-62 1.6 project is go for launch by Tom at FFS. Just waiting on #1 The motor and #2 the new outlet manifold. Ill have Mike put on an new timing belt and water pump and most likley shim the oil pump for giggles. Hey Tom! You got a 130mm crank pulley? http://forum.miata.net/vb/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I just supplied a 130mm crank pulley to somebody else, I can supply one to you too. ;-)
I just had this discussion at the shop this AM. Should I place an order for a batch of 125 and 130 and bigger pulleys?

:taz: Monkey like pulley !!! Actually; I was thinking big pulleys on BOTH ends to reduce strain on the belt and tensioner and any accesories involved... also; more contact area?

How much was the engine?

Pulleys will be the same 6 Rib as the coldsides. 65/105 to start. After that we will up them until the new engine blows up and then back down one size. :)

So then, we have 6 months to blow it up and then back off one pulley size? What's the problem?

Not knowing exactly what engines go for, that doesn't sound like a bad price for a completely tested longblock.

Actually $900 isn't a bad at all... especially considering the engine's been run tested and has that good of a compression.... basically good as new. And I would trust a factory Miata engine over a remanufactured one.
Besides all that, I had called Rising Sun Engines about the cost of a '99-'00 Miata engine. How does $2000 sound?!?!?!? Yeah, I am probably now just going to rebuild my own engine. Probably get 9:1 factory cast pistons for .5mm overbore. I mean, I would have been perfectly happy with a '99-'00 used engine that had good compression for around $1000... but $2000?!? geeeezzz

 I got to visit my new motor at Mikes place last Friday! Had a bit of a scare. Mike was out and Curt and I were kind of checking out the motor paper work and He said it was a fine looking 1.8 L:eek: HUH? It was all wrapped in blue plastic and hard to get a good look at or measure. Mike showed up and we dug into the thing; measured up fine as a 1.6 What was confusing Curt was the cam position sensor block off on this motor. Made it look exactly like a 1.8 Mike said they are still making these motors for Japan and Europe so they have some upgrades from the old 89-93 ones we had. SO! This motor, besides being low miles could also be only a few years old!! COOL! Better than hoped for! Tom Ixnay on the blowen up vay:gunsmilie: Any word on the manifold?

I have a sample manifold in the car to test on Chuck's car. So there is hope.

It is a bare casting and I am thinking of having it anodized black and then FFS engraved on the flat face. It sure does "LOOK" more efficient than the old welded one.

Dan,
I can give you the name of the company that did the PC on my valve cover. All it takes is $$$$$.

I was thinking Id take it to the same place I had my Valve cover done so they can match the copper mix they made. Mabey do the blower too!

I don't think you can PC the blower. It would have to be taken apart, painted and re-assembled. If you want to do that, you will have to do it after we bless it as working correctly. ;-)
