No question the WRX has the BIG traction advantage from a standing start, but I now know that on a 2 lane freeway onramp from 25mph to 85mph a FFSC with 115 pulley is a dead-on match for a WRX. Neither one pulling the other. This was all done in the name of research of course. And as always the look on his face was priceless. ;)

Just a plain WRX?
I figured a 210whp miata would be faster.

They are high 13 second cars in stock form http://dragtimes.com/ and so are we.

didn't realize the base WRX were that fast.
I dove a 227whp model once, and was not impress. Partly because of the extreme turbo lag.

That's why I was willing to race from a roll-on. I new I'd have the lowdown torque advantage. I might have done better if my wife wasn't in the car. That extra 125 lbs. does make a difference.

Isn't that the truth. I drive solo 97% of the time in the miata. But one time I was demostrating the acceleration of the miata to a friend in the car (250lb +), I was thinking "Hell, where did my acceleration go?

The WRX-STI and EVO are strong - about 290hp, and with AWD have great traction. The base WRX has 224hp/226tq but I think the specs on this one are under-rated. They're fun cars to drive but to me an SC'd Miata is more liveable and more fun - RWD has it's own rewards.

I have figured that at 210 WHP the Miata has a power-to-weight ratio 16% greater than an EVO has. Could be the same for a WRX?

Some ignorant guy started the thread and our leader Tom helped him out and in the end Corky Bell acknowledged that he was getting old.
Was it cubed or squared or new math?
