:hammer: Well. I got the car to ADC this morning for the bracket mock up. Friday they will deliver it to Mikes Place for valve adjustment and such, as I will be in Lake Havasu till monday PM. Then its back to ADC for the install when Tom is ready! Test Monkey Out!

Tom, could we have an update please? Any luck with the brackets?

:hammer: Well; Ill jump in. Elphi had to have her valves adjusted due to the fact that the newer JDM motor has solid lifters. That and an electrical gremlin swatted concerning an inop coolent guage. Ill have her back at ADC tomarrow then Tom can play again. :hammer:

Would have been much more cost effective to just rebuild the block. The imported motor just had too many things that were JUST different enough to double the estimated cost of the swapout... Oh well. All in the name of boost and science

 Elphi is again out of Mikes and sitting over at Arizona Dyno Chip. Let the fun begin!!! Coolent temp guage is fixed and base timing set to 10 Deg. She was getting low on fuel so I filled her to the top with Shells best 87 octaine... Start breathing again Tom... its 91:rofl:

Dan dropped it off Friday and Friday/Saturday are their bussiest days, so it will be this coming week (they are closed Monday) before they can get back to it.

Tom, my 92 is coming out of hibernation this weekend (out of storage and insurance back on).

I’m trying to plan ahead and pencil in some time for the install between the events of our short solo season.

What’s a rough estimate for the 1.6 kit? June?

Tom @ Fast Forward

I sure hope it is sooner than June. :)

I know how these things have a tendency to slip to the right.

Fit the brackets, install the SC, tune the SC, tweak any flaws, order the parts, manufacture the kits, ship the kits, transit time, etc.

I think that late May/early June is pretty realistic for having the kit in my possession. Don't forget, I just want to plan ahead for the install.

Thyat's true for other companies but we are perfect and operate in a perfect world. :)

So when did you say you were going to have those 130mm pulleys ready again?

That with a pully upgrade and a little bit of head work, your golden!

04-01-2007, 10:27 AM
Very Very Nice!!!!!!!!

So, how much boost did it take to get there?

And most of all.......HOW DOES IT FEEL ?????? :)

Tom @ Fast Forward
04-01-2007, 12:00 PM
I don't remember boost exactly but I think it was ~8PSI with the stock 105mm pulley. Those engines are small but they really make power.

SOL General
04-01-2007, 02:02 PM
Yea slap a bigger pully on there and your set.

Tom, How would the LINK ECU from FM work with the supercharger?

Well, I have had a half day of fun with this so I better 'fess up. Please note the date on the graph is April 1. ;)

Sol, it would be hard to improve perfection at any price. Personally I have come to the conclusion that nothing will improve on the PC-Pro until some new technology comes along.

I am backlogged on kits once again. Thanks for the orders everybody. However, I am having a hard time keeping inventory. Magnuson has been great about shipping in just a few days after I order, my machine shop has put my stuff at the top of the list and the casting house has turned around my orders in a few days. Why am I telling you that? Because, the 1.6 is slipping a bit. I just don't have time. I hope to have these next six kits out by the end of the week at the latest and then I will jump 100% on the 1.6L project. All we actually have left is the auto tensioner. I hope the one I designed for the BRP hotsides will be real close for this one. If so, we are less than a week from making history. The real goal is 180-200 with emphasis on the 200WHP. I don't think it will get as good as that graph from my 99 :) but it could.

I wont apologize for that graph either. It felt good to do it. LOL

Hey how did you get solid lifter top end i would love that? BTW Now that the 1.6 kits are aking more power than the 1.8's i hope everyone else wakes up. :D Great job how much do you guys think the solid lifters helped? Oh shannangans huh well dont be surprised when it becomes the truth i made similiar numbers at 8psi on my turbo on stock ecu so it isnt that far fetched.

:stuart: Now that April Fools day is over I think its safe to jump back in. The JDM 1.6L motor is aparently still in production for cars in Europe and Japan. While the block is unchanged this aparently almost new motor has a few changes, especially to the head. Solid lifters and diffrent casting process as the casting pattern on the head is very diffrent from my old one. The intake and JR header bolted right up so the geometery has not changed. My new motor must have been out of some econo box car, as it felt VERY flat without boost. Swapping the cams from my old motor into the new made it feel right again; comes alive on the cam around 3800 RPM. Its not the inexpensive route I was hoping for to get a fresh motor but if you want a basicly just broken in new motor with solid lifters... Umm Well... Go for it!:)

Just over $900 delevered to Phoenix from Chico CA. http://www.risingsunengines.com/ Make sure you ask for the "LONG NOSE CRANK" Check em out, They "Hot run" the motors on natural gass; not just a cranking comp check. They provide numbers on compression and oil pressure. Nicely cleaned and packaged for shipping.

SOL General
04-02-2007, 04:16 PM
If My compression check comes back good, would it be an additive to rebuild my engine or since my compression check comes back good there would be no need?

Also where could I get a 1.8 torsen for my car, I have searched but nothing comes up, any reccomendations?

Tom @ Fast Forward
04-02-2007, 07:52 PM
If the compression check and leak down check (more indicative of good health than a compression check) are good, leave it alone. It will be fine. With those checks, it is more important to be relatively even across the cylinders than to have real high numbers.

Have you tried the Miata or Mazda specific salvage business' advertised in Miata.net? There are a bunch and each one might recommend another not advertised if they don't have it. I went through about 15 yards all over the country (by phone, not literally) to find a part for my car. I got a torsen from a yard in Sacramento that specializes in Miatas. I forget the name and keep lousy records. It was about $750 shipped to Reno.

Apparently you want it for autocross. If not, I don't recommend it. It seems to rob some power and when you break loose even going straight, the car wants to fish tail. If you install a FFS blower, it will break loose.
