Something mentioned by Lyle (RedLighning), but burried in another thread is to check the tightness of mounting hardware after a few hundred miles. I just spent the morning re-mounting my manifold brace because I didn't pay heed to a tiny rattle soon enough. I thought sure it was a brake shield or something like that. One bolt backed out leaving the other loose enough to eventually shear off.
I left my splashpan off for just this kind of thing, and suggest the same. After a few hundred miles just check everything. You'll be glad you did. :D

Don't forget to use the blue loktite on all bolts that don't come prepped with the patch.

Things I found that are important to check after the install and running the kit for a while (50 - 100 miles or so):
1. all manifold top bolts
2. belt tensioner bracket bolts
3. manifold underbrace tension.
4. IAC bracket, plate and valve bolts
5. EGR bracket clearance to wires and hoses
6. pulley bolts
7. blower pulley shaft for leaks (rare, but check anyway)
8. all hoses
9. intake hose, MAF and filter
10. air conditioning lines by air filter
11. engine managment vacuum/boost tubing
12. throttle and throttle body adapter manifold blocks for air leaks

Can you use Locktite "wet" or must it be dry. By wet, I mean can you apply it right to the bolt threads and then assemble on the spot? Or do you have to let it dry and then assemble?
Thanks.

Put it on the threads, then insert.

I put it on the intake manifold nuts and ended up having a hell of a time getting them off. About half the studs backed out of the head and there isn't room to get both out in the confines of the manifold recesses. Luckily (or not) my head was on the bench when trying to remove manifold. Don't know what I would have done if it was still in the car. Maybe back out a little on each over and over till they are all out.
Everything was still tight after about 500 miles using it on everything and not using any predictable torque on a lot of the hard to get to places.

I just got back from taking my car to a mechanic. I GOTTA get a lift!! We went through evry nut and bolt on the SC kit. Abot 8-9 hundred miles. Found 2 pulley bolts a turn or so backed off. 1 lower manifold nut about 3/4 turn. and a couple hex head guys a turn or two off. It cost about $100 for shop and lift time (R&R alternator etc.) but the piece of mind is well worth it.

Pat, did you loktite all your intake manifold nuts (for that matter, all your fasteners)
Thx.

Did not use locktite on the manifold nuts. Also didn't use any on the pulley bolts since I may change pulleys out. Pretty much everything else comes prepped with the Blue patch except for the Intake manifold brace bracket bolts that go into the block, so I added some there.

Tom,
Would you recommend keeping Loctite off the intake manifold nuts? Doesn't come with any sealant from the factory and down the road if putting the car back to stock it could be a big problem if the studs start backing. Perhaps torque 'em to spec. and then monitor them (score a ref. point on the top onesto see if they're moving).

No. Not there.
What I find amazing is that Mazda says 17-21 INCH-Lbs for those nuts. Not real tight?
