Several of you have noted the hardship of wiring to the ECU under the dash and over your head in cramped quarters. I have ordered one of these
http://www.autosportwiring.com/images/2001%20and%20up%20Miata.jpg
and will let you know what I think of the quality. If they are OK, I think they will make life a lot easier as you can wire the JRPC and SS on your workbench and simply plug it in. Price is not all bad either. I will have mine Wednesday and let you know. Rather than raise the price of the kit and include it, I will post the link in the VENDOR Forum and let you order direct if you want it.

There is two versions. One for 94-00 and one for 01-05.

Good timing. I was just looking at these: http://www.boomslang.us/extension.htm for another project.

Anyone have any experience with them? I was going to take a shot in the dark and order one for my Miata while I was at it. If nobody's heard of them before I'll be a guinea pig and report back.

I'm a big fan of using jumper harnesses: so much easier to make wiring connections on the comfort of your bench instead of standing on your head! Back in my factory days I got spoiled because we did all our ECU wire changes and test connections this way... so much so I can't ever imagine going back to Scotchloks!

I received the part yesterday and it is reall a quality part. Because of the cost, I won't add it to the kit as the price would have to climb substantially. I do, however, recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to tap the seven ECU wires while laying on their back under the dash.

For the 99/00, the wires are:

Injector 1 - 3W
Injector 2 - 3X
Injector 3 - 3Y
Injector 4 - 3Z

CAS - 2H

12VDC - 1B
GND - 3C

Just ordered one of these, Tom. It's not the initial Scotch-lok tapping that I mind, it's the "four months after the install" troubleshooting process that sucks. And it's usually cold or raining. Yeah, I just love the feeling of the blood draining out of your arms as you hold them over your head. Can't get enough of that.

I figure I'll clip the seven leads that I need, re-twist 'em with the leads for the PC and SS, solder them up and throw some shrink tube over them.

I think the scotch loks are great IF you get them right. My problem is old bones crawling under the dash to work up there. That cable just makes short work of it on the bench where tired old eyes can see easier as well.

From the looks of the harness, I don't see much color coding of the wiring. Is this true of the one that you received? Hopefully not. Could you provide me with the lead for lead equivalent on this harness that I will have to wire the PC and SS to? Thx.

Evan,

I updated the picture above for the 99/00 and will add the 94-97. 94-00 uses the above cable assembly. For the 01-05, the numberin is very similar for the letters but there are 4 connectors. When you get your harness, if you will send me a picture of the side and end like above, I will mark it up accordingly. The numbers are:

Injector 1 - 2A
Injector 2 - 2D
Injector 3 - 2G
Injector 4 - 2J

CAS - 3V

12VDC - 4AF
GND - 3A or 3B
