Necessity is the mother of invention. As you know, I had the injector for #2 cylinder stick full on. My 99 also has one of the fuel rails that was installed for test. Last night I started to replace the injectors with the new ones. (They are a direct replacement but they couldn't get me 240cc and delivered 280cc. Hope they will be OK?). Anyhow, I found lining everything up to be a pain. Then I got the idea to install the injectors in the fuel rail first and tie wrap them in place. Slipped the rail back to the engine and one-by-one dropped them in their holes and voilla, no problem. Then cut the tie wraps to clean it up.

Some people swear by duct tape, but cable ties are King!!! Where do I get my 100 and one uses for a cable tie calendar?

Update. Leave the connectors off of the injectors until after the rail is in.

Easier to rotate them after. BTW, the injectors should be "loose" after install. You should be able to rotate them freely.

Use a drop of oil on your finger to wet the upper o-ring before trying to slide it into the rail. The aluminum is dry and the o-rings are dry and they can twist on the way in and leak if they are not allowed to slide into place easily.

Us OLD motorcycle guys remember the "duct tape" column in cycle magazine from years ago. I dropped my subscription when he stopped doing that column.

Yes, cable ties ARE king. The problem with duct tape is that while it's great for fixes in a pinch, if you leave it on too long and then try to remove it later it's a mess.

Cable ties, don't leave home without 'em!
