Is a ticking noise bad?

I just open the hood for some cleaning. I noticed that at idle, I hear a ticking noise. Best way I can describe it is a fast wristwatch pitch click. Just louder obviously. Is this bad? I haven't noticed it before.

Let me guess... 94-97 gen??

Is this different than lifter tick?

I understand it's a common trait of the 94-7 gen. Both of mine did -- although the 94 was much worse!
