Well my first question should be: (and i kinda know the answer)
Can a really good condition stock clutch hold the power from a coldside.
My second question would be ;), which clutch do you guys recommend and where should i get it? I'm looking for a clutch with NO chatter that engages pretty much like stock and thats free of all noises so no multiple puck clutch w/no springs.
Thanks for your help guys....im looking for something good & cheap. :)

The answer is no, unless you exercise lots of restraint (which is hard to do ;) ). Ask Tom how I know this ;) :driving:
I have a ACT HD with organic disk and after adjusting the pedal it feels and engages like stock. As for clutch chatter, I have had none and I have no noise. If you dont have an even surface on your flywheel, any clutch will exhibit chatter.

+1 on the ACT HD. I didn't even adjust the pedal, although it engages pretty close to the floor. Whenever anyone else drives the car, they always stall once or twice . It's a great clutch!

and 1 for the ACT XT. Takes a little more foot pressure but engages at the normal position without adjustment and is a little easier to engage. The HD always seemed to me to be more on/off. The XT will get your leg tired in rush hour stop/go traffic.

Either I don't drive hard enough or the previous owner put a stronger clutch in because as far as I know I'm still on the stock clutch......
Then again I don't do burnouts and am generally pretty easy on the clutch.
Come to think of it, I've never had to replace a clutch in any car/motorcycle I've ever owned.

Obviously you aren't driving hard enough!

Got an FM ACT HD....apparently they mix & match friction disks and p-plate to get better driveability.
Tom you should offer these complementary to your kits. You can be sure if you did i would of got it from you, same thing with the 280cc injectors you were talking about.
ahhh...also got the FM framerails while i was at it! :)
Thanks guys!!!

I'm a bit late but I have a Spec II (I know, I'm still NA). The clutch is in preparation for mo powa but I love the feel of it, almost stock.
+1 for the ACT HD. I put oneat the beginning of the year, along with the ACT lightweight flywheel. I was completely impressed with how the HD felt in the foot. Feels as close to stock as possible with the added benefit of holding the extra power.
For what it's worth, stock clutch looked like it could hold up for ever. It had 95,000 miles on it with the past 6 years seeing heavy autocross usage and some track time. There's been a few autocrosses during that time that I drove the car along with my 2 oldest boys also. And with the Windy City Miata CLub, you can usually expect to get about 12 runs in during the day. Close to 40 runs with heavy clutch action at the start line in a single day. Just little bit of bluing showing up on the stocker.
