After about 1 1/2 years and 20,000 miles on my coldside I swapped out the orgional belt. It still looked good, but my butt dyno was telling me that the bottom end of the power band felt soft.

Sure enough, with the new belt, the lower rpm power felt much stronger. Apparently over time the belts glaze over and just don't hold as well as a new one.

A fresh belt at least once a year is probably cheap insurance and will help the car's performance also.

With the BRP pulleys, I would go through a belt in about 3k-5k miles. Then, the squealing would get unbearable.

After switching to Tom's pulleys, I have put 15k miles on the car. The belt does not show a sign of wear. I check it often.

I had not thought to change it if it still looks good and does not make noise.

I posted this a long time ago... You should also check your belt grooves for debris. I found a small pebble eating up my pulleys after I noticed my pulleys were starting to have a silver line on one of the grooves.
