Hi Tom.
I got a couple questions and my install is 99.99 complete.
1) the vics solonoid is not used anymore? should i just bundle up the connector out of the way?
2) intake didn't come with a bracket, where/how should it be bolted up? i was going to make a "L"ish bracket to bolt the maf sensor(2 screws) to the big bolt on the SC manifold brace?
3) anyone else run a remote oil filter setup? where is the remote part and how was it routed?
I just need these cleared up before i drive it. thanks b

I just helped install one. My comments are as follows:
1) Yes
2) I believe you are talking about the ait filter and MAF. The lack of a bracket is IMHO a week point in the kit. If you can make a bracket, I'm sure other will be very interested.
3) I am in the minority, that I do not like remote filters, due to the potential of hoses rubbing and causing a failure. Many people here are a big fan of the Thompson remote filter.
The person I helped (Liddown) bought a Thompson and I complained enough about the hoses rubbing his ABS that he bought some additional hydraulic connectrors for his kit and I must say I am impressed how he eliminated the hose rubbing. His mninor change is so clean, that I would consider using the kit with his mod.
Hopefully he will post pics (I encouraged him to do so). Maybe if you PM him, we can get him to post the pics.

thanks scuba.
i just looked at it again and got a couple more questions.
1) re: vics. do i need to leave the solonoid connected or can i unplug it and just tie up the connector.
2) pc pros. one has a solid green light and one is blinking. is this right (sorry, i haven't looked at the pc pro instructions yet.)
observations:
- car started easily and doesn't make a whine until 3000ish (on the rack)
- intake filter inlet was alot smaller than opening of black intake hose, so we cut part of my old intake(silicone aftermarket) to make it fit better.
- the install is more of a pain when you have the RB sway bar brace as it gets in the way of the pulley install.
thanks b

By "intake bracket" are you talking about the undrr brace that supports the intake at an angle to the engine?
Any and all parts of VICs can be set aside. Any connectors can be removed as needed and simply tucked away.
The main one will be basically solid and the E-Cool one will be mostly on with a light blink.
The intake filter should be the right size (2.5") to fit right on the MAF inlet. The MAF outlet fits to the hose and you take the rubber ring from the filter end (inlet) that you took off and put it on the hose end (outlet) to fit up.

Hi Tom.
I meant a bracket that holds the actual air filter instead of it flopping around. step 30 where the pic shows connect plug to maf, that is the only part that talks about the air filter and shows no bracket to hold the filter stable. i cut a fairly thick piece of SS sheet to 2.5"x6" and bent it to about 110deg and it connects to the maf by 2 screws and to the SC intake mani brace by 1 of the 2 big nuts. it still bounces with the brace i made, probably because the filter is so big and long. i'd imagine the filter will sit on the splash guard when i put it back on. i'll probably try supporting the end of the filter (IAT side).
cool. so i can disconnect the vics solonoid.
driving impression (didn't drive for an hour yet for the ecu to learn, only went around the block)
- the kit made the car alot more driveable as i have a 1.6 fidanza flywheel and 1.6 stage 2 clutch. so i know low end is improved. only went up to 4000 as my installer said he heard pinging at high rpm when he went around the block. so i am gonna try some torco additive to my 92 octane(always had 92 in there)
- a person new to the car wouldn't know there is anything until 3000 when it starts to sing a little and power is noticeably better.
-can't wait to really get on it, but that will probably be when i get back in 2 weeks from a trip. :nopity: then i'll give a more complete review and whether or not the torco helped.
-also have new spark plug wires on order. currently on 60,000 stockies :nono:
thanks tom

If you've got ping, make sure you check your A/F. Especially the 5th injector. Shouldn't be ping on 92. Other causes of ping are carbon on the pistons, timing advanced beyond 10* and stuffed cats.

I'll try to somehow check my A/F. How do i check the 5th injector?
car has 60,000 and stock 10* timing, stock exhaust. maybe the cat like you said.

Pull your plugs and with a flash light look at your pistons, if you see black, I'ld suggest a "De-carbon-nizing"

With an A/F meter, make a run with the 5th injector connected and one with the connector disconnected and look at the A/F change. Should be about 1 point. Like 13:1 without it and 12:1 with it.
