Ok, I've had my 2001 for over 5 years now and I'm really getting serious about getting a SC. Reading on Miata.net and lurking here FFS seems to be the one to get, but i have a few noob questions.

Due to emissions testing here do I need the CARB legal version or is that just a California thing? Also, I wouldn't be comfortable doing the installation, is there a recommended shop in Wisconsin someone can suggest? It seems the closest Miata shop is in Indianapolis. Local garages have said they can do the install but I'd rather deal with a shop that does this kind of thing with a Miata.

Thanks

That's just a CA thing. If your cat is in good shape, the kit will pass emissions with flying colors there.

Sorry, I don't know of a shop there. Hopefully someone else will pop in with a recommendation for that.

Sorry to say, I'm in North Central Illinois and I don't know of any shops locally that I would trust for installation. And the Miata club around here is pretty big. You may want to hist the Windy City Miata Club forum and put a post there. Someone might be ale to recommend a shop closer to the city.

I found this place: http://www.advanced-autosports.com

It's a Spec Miata shop about 80 miles from me but they are busy with the racing season until November, just about the time I'm putting on my snow tires. Ah well, I guess I'll have a few extra months to save up.
