So I've got "Son of Coldside" up and running now for about 2 weeks. I've had a CEL that I figured I'd see if the car would just fix as things settle down. Wishful thinking. I pulled the CEL tonight and it's a P403. I looked that up and....nothing, it's not on the list. Anyone know what a 403 is?
It's possible I had my OBD scanner in the wrong mode (I don't know if this would display an incorrect code) I noticed this when I fired up the engine after clearing the code and none of the active displays for RPM, Temp, etc.. would display (it's a PC based OBD scanner). I changed the mode, restarted the OBD application and the active displays then worked.
Thanks in advance!

My 99 service Manual doesn't even have a P0403. But a quick Google search came up with:
P0403 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Malfunction

My car is an '03, wonder if that makes a difference. Any ideas on where to start with this one?

IIRC, on a Coldside install, you have to do something with the EGR pipe? That's where I'd start.
The P04xx is EGR related.

On my '02 (Coldside Sr.) I went through some EGR codes relating to insufficient flow. I wonder if this code number is different because it's an '03, but is actually for the same thing. It strikes me as different as it says "malfunction". One thing I also noticed last night is that the back of the EGR was rubbing into the harness. I didn't see any wires that were worn, but maybe one/some were (mechanic who did my install did a poor job on that). I relocated the harness away from the EGR.
Perhaps I'll disconnect the EGR and see if I still get the same code. That's very easy to do.

All wires have to be kept clear of the EGR as it will melt them and short them to ground.

Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed but I think my problems were the EGR shorting out a wire in the harness. I've been CEL free for 4 days now.
If you're not sure if your harness is clear of the EGR, check it out. Much easier to get it out of the way now, then the potential outcome.
