View Full Version : Decal Might Work

Sometime ago Tom was looking at providing FFS buyers with a decal.

Including myself, most everyone wasn't to excited about putting a decal on the car.

However, I was thinking that such a decal under the hood would be great.

With the FFS and my crinkle coated red cam cover, I will want everyone to look under my hood.

In fact a large decal, say 9'"x 9" x 9" would be nice and great advertising.

YoYos are choice # 2, but those cost a lot more than decals. For that price Tom could give you dozens of decals.

Well, based on what sounded like a LACK of interest when I floated the balloon a few months back I ran my vinyl w/o FFR graphics... BUUUUT, I am about to do another batch, and I see some in the cards.

Give me 1-2 weeks!!

What size will they be?

Before I answer that, two things I want to check first:

1- Whether Tom is cool with me doing this! Since I do Brand, Communications and Design every day, I know how to be considerate of using someone's corp ID without their consent! ;) Tom?

2- I'll do some of it out my my pocket, but I would prefer to get SOME of my costs covered, and, irrespective of what your significant others might say, size DOES matter! (in this case re: cost!), so I need to know how much larger sizes affect he production costs...

No problem. I hereby grant Paul Magee permission to make and distribute (for profit even :)) the Fast Forward Superchargers logo on a decal. Size, which has been determined to matter, to be determined. ;)

Sorry buck. I probably should keep my nit picking to myself. I don't know if it is the forum or something in my computer, but I get a red underline when I spell something wrong and I can go back and let it fix it or decide I wanted it that way (like names) I do a lot of corrections. My backspace key gets used more than any of the others.

OK folks, got some pricing today...

All pricing listed is my cost, so there's no profit being taken from my fellow FFS owners, unless of course one of you wants to order these by the HUNDREDS... :)

Per the pics below, there are 4 color options, any of which are available in 3 sizes:

SIZES:
32" x 3" - (Windshield header)
1-color: $15 each + shipping
2-color: $20 each + shipping

10.8" x 1"
1-color: $8 each + shipping
2-color: $10 each + shipping

6.67" x .7
1-color: $6 each + shipping
2-color: $8 each + shipping

1-color: black or white only
2-color: red icon with either black or white text

I wish the prices were cheaper, but the intricacy of the text is a big cost factor.

I haven't initiated the order yet, because I wasn't sure how interest would be based on this pricing. Let me know your thoughts. Even if there's only 4-6 people interested, I'll pull the trigger...

Thanks!!

Thanks all for the quick response. I'll make more than are needed, but will place the first order on MONDAY the 18th, so ideally, chime in before that!

That said, I have all the requests so far. Thanks! Two pieces of info I need:

BUCKO - You said 2-color, but didn't specify white or black text...

LIDDOWN - Same...

Thanks!

Why not have the "Fast Forward" in a solid color like the "Superchargers"? The FF is less visible than the superchargers when trying to contrast color. Maybe having all solid letters will reduce the cost too.

Thank you Sir Buck...

For those unclear on a windshield header, here's the premise... I WOULD run one, but since the SCCA requires you to run the TIRE RACK logo in order to participate at their events, so I will not be removing it anytime soon... I hate plugging for them. I WILL, however, be making 3 windshield banner - sized cuts for myself, so that I can put them on the rear door and 2 flanks of my trailer! ;)

This is the first time Ive heard of a required logo to participate in SCCA events.

Seriously?? Wow. For the past 5 years I can speak to, they require you to run AT LEAST 6 (and sometimes 8) pieces of promotional crap on your car at any SCCA National event... This doesn't include regional events...

- Tire Rack windshield banner
- SCCA sticker somewhere on a front-facing surface
- 2 SCCA Solo stickers (one per side)
- 2 National Tour stickers (1 per side)
- 2 ATI Engineering stickers (when they were sponsors.. no longer thank god!)

The REALLY shitty part is you have to pay $5 to GET 3 of their pieces!

Furthermore, they actually have a person whose JOB is to go from car to car (either in grid or impound) with a checklist PER CAR to verify you have all the required vinyl.

Damn! Ive never been to one before. I only raced regionally. Well, I guess I know what to do if I go to a nationals event.
Jeez... you pay to race and you pay to promote... :(

Hey guys,

I have placed the order for the vinyl!

Of course the order is due to be ready when I am traveling, so I will not likely be able to shiop until about July 2... Look for PMs from me so I can get shipping info, etc., but not until I have had a chance to proof them and make sure he got it right! ;)

JUUUST got back in town from the Peru National Tour late last night. LEt me call the vinyl guy and get back later !

BTW... Took first...;) Beat a couple cars that weren't really SM2 cars (an SS-class-winning Z06 Corvette, and a CSP-prepared MR-2 Spyder) but still, an FFS-equipped Miata has now won an SCCA National Tour event! ;)

Actually, I was kind of off-handedly thanking YOU!

The debate re: gearing continues... The turn-in and response of the 13" was a HUGE advantage I am not yet willing to lose. Plus the CSP guy that was runnign those Hoosier 274/35-15s said the max grip was sickeningly good, but at the expense of turn-in, and they also had 2 drivers to get heat in them!

I was DEEEEP into third gear through Sunday's slalom. the acceleration is awesome. On my 215mm V710s on a constant radius turn at approximately 45 mph, I could still pitch the tail out a bit with some throttle. :devil2:

The BEST part was after the heat, as I sat waiting in impound, a bunch of the course workers came over to look under the hood in-person, because the sound was so awesome.

I wonder if you should pull a Harley-Davidson here, Tom, and patent the SOUND of the kit?? :drool5:

I know this is rather late response, but congrats!

The new 275s are the way to go. Take it from experience.

My local area has a really tough CSP class. The top 3-4 CSP cars are always top 10 pax with 150 cars running. Before I went to 275s, there were 4 of us within a tenth of each other. I was running 215 710s. My 1st event on 275s, I pulled almost a second on the next guy and now after some tuning and tweaking, I tend to pull between 1 and 2 seconds every event. To add to that my car has pulled FTD at 3 out of 4 of the last events. Unfortunately, my co-driver pulled two of those FTDs. :2guns:

I think heat is going to be an issue on the Miata. I never even had to spray them on a 90* day, and thats WITH a co-driver.

Now that I am satified with the grip of the 275s, it's time to add some power. I have two more events for the local series, then it's time to make the transition to SM2. I have wanted to make this transition for a long time, but I didn't want to kill a very competitive autocross car by adding a bunch of power still running of 225s. Now I have confidence that I will be able to make up that .8s on a 45s course. Getting the power to the ground with the 275s shouldn't be an issue.

Here's my car in its current state of terror...

Hi guys...

Sorry I have beem so vacant. More going on than I can possibly explain!

Assuming Michael K is interested in the ones we've been e-mailing about, all I would have left are:

(all 2-color)
2 small whites
3 medium blacks
1 medium white
1 white windshield banner

I also need to actually SHIP THE BOX TO TOM THAT HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY LIVING ROOM FOR MONTHS!!!!!!

Later today I hope to start a thread about my SCCA Nats / Topeka adventures with the FFS car!!!!
