Ok it's time for my silly question of the month!
Adding a WB LC-1 someday soon. I have an FM midpipe and I understand that a few (6 or so) inches in front of the Cat is a good place for the bung. So the kit comes with a steel bung, but it also appears that SS bungs are available. My midpipe is SS so would that require a SS bung or is it just a matter of preference?
Thanks!

You can use either BUT, welding SS to SS is a better approach. Most exhaust shops have the SS bung and will weld it on for ~$20-$25. The best is SS on SS.

David - Let me know when you are going, I need to get mine done too. We can get both our bungs drilled at the same time

Hey you Big Bungs,
What increased performance do you get from a mid-pipe?

I believe Tom ran some back to back dyno tests (last year?) and found little to no difference unless you were replacing a plugged cat.
Making it tough on the aftermarket exhaust part vendors.

Can you have the bung mounted right near the stock one? I've got my stock midpipe and not sure if I'm going to replace it. On one hand it sounds like it's got pebbles bouncing around in it over 6,500 revs....on the other hand with my Roadster Sport 3 exhaust it's not too loud (but cold be a little louder).
Decisions, decisions....

They say a minimum of 18 inches from the head.

Pebbles or Ping?
Realized I never answered you. Pebbles. I recognize the sound from the first time I installed my s/c on my '02 (may it rest in peace) with the stock midpipe. When I changed to the Goodwin midpipe it went away. The sound is also coming from the middle of the car, not from the front.
That said, I need to get an AFR on this thing and tune it.

Interesting.... Ok it's been at least a week from my last dumb question... So... Ping, let's talk sound, I remember the old rattling chain sounding ping, then theres the pebbles in a coffee can sound, How else can ping sound? Can ping sound like a squeeling sound?

If you have ping, it won't sound like it is coming from the middle of the car.

Remember Tom, not everyone can hear as good as you can. When I hear things at all, I can't really tell where it is coming from. Mostly I can't hear it so it doesn't confuse me.
What really bugs me is doorbells and phone rings on TV commercials. I was jumping up to answer the door or the phone until I quit both even if it is really someone at the door. Now if I hear the doorbell I wonder who turned on the TV.

Kyp, with you, anything is possible. ;) Maybe is is one of those missing manifold bolts rattling around? :)
Exhaust heat shield also comes to Mind.

Haha, when I pulled my motor I found 2 manifold nuts hanging around the subframe. I bet if I look inside the right lower control arm there would be some hardware in there as well.
