So I'm thinking of upgrading the fuel pump to go with the New dual feed fuel rail and the 280 injectors. First I thought about a Walbro 190lph and then in searching for a vendor I came upon the Peirburg auxiliary pump at FM. They claim it will cause no odd pressure issues at idle, but give plenty of oomph under boost. Anyone have experience with these?

I have been wondering why we do not need to upgrade the fuel pump.

The JR 45M had an option to get a upgraded fuel pump. Gary at Track Dog highly recommended.

Why is it that we do not need one with FFS??

I have been talking to some folks who have measured their fuel pressures at various horsepower levels and they say we should be running a bigger pump. Of course some folks are running just fine without one, but at 190+ it is good insurance against leaning out at one injector.

It doesn't hurt to up the pump. Just money you don't normally need to spend. I have the Walbro 255 (left over from 550cc injectors and hotside days) in my 99 and stock in the 05. Both work fine.

If you read the thread I started on losing two engines, you will realize how scared I am of losing a 3rd engine.

We can not figure out what caused the denotation. One theory was that the fuel pump was not working properly. I do not quite understand how an inadequate fuel pump could cause denotation. However, I got a high performance fuel pump as added insurance.

Since Tom has put in a better fuel pump, that is a good enough reason for me to do the same.

Actually I think Tom was looking at your FPR (fuel pressure regulator). Anyway, it is definately worth the effort. Any weak link in fuel or spark (like timing) can cause detonation at this level of horsepower. Some fuel pumps and FPR's are up to the task and some are not. I'm cahanging both as well as my 100k+ old injectors and adding Tom's fuel rail. Timing card is next when Tom has them ready.
