I forgot how nice 3rd gear is when you've got some twist.

Looks super clean.

However, I have the Split Second in the same location and it started melting the case from exhaust heat. Be careful.

I have a heat shield in place but I doubt if you would want one like it. I don't have a picture in this computer and I can't mention where one is posted in a web site.

"that almost looks 'factory'". Well, that's what most people say when I raise my hood. ;)

That is a pretty car. Glad you could duplicate the one you lost.

I never thought of mounting the Split Second under the hood... Mine is behind the pax seat next to the ECU.

Nice and clean.... it does look factory.

looks like I could drink that brake fluid.... :ack2: but I am in recovery

I wish my brake fluid looked like that. For some unknown reason, I replace the fluid and a few "hard" days later it is dark again. ;) But I like the Goodwin brakes anyhow. ;)

VERY NICE CAR, and I thought my engine bay was clean, think you have me beat. Nice car. Glad your Back...............

Thanks for the compliments. I bled/changed the brake fluid just about a month ago (I've got a Griot's pump bleeder that makes it a pleasure).

...and if you bought a car with..8,300 miles your engine bay would look like that too (I wasn't looking for that little mileage, but that's what I found for a good price).

Next up is either a Zeitronix AFR unit or an Innovative and do the "not yet production" auto-tune config.

You might want to get an Innovate just in case you want to upgrade to the closed loop mode for the pc pros. I recently saw a wideband shootout posted on mnet and the innovate was the best.

The thing is, I don't plan on running any gauges and with the Zeitronix I could use their audible/visual warning device to alert me to any bad conditions (for example, too lean). Is this a pipe dream, meaning by the time it has told me I'm running lean is it too late? Remember, this is my daily driver that I really don't beat on very hard for long periods of time.

Death from lean conditions typically takes time at high RPM. If that buzzer goes off, you probably have plenty of time. I would just worry about if going off often enough to make you ignore it. Remember, every time you lift, the engine goes dead lean as the ECU turns the injectors off.

I have this installed, but have not set up the alarm conditions yet. The way that I understand it is that the alarm can be set for multiple conditions. If all conditions are not met then alarm will not sound. Also multiple alarms can be set.

Bogus Example (2 alarms set to run together):
1. IF AFR is greater that 12.8 AND Boost is greater than 9.0 AND TPS is greater than 30% AND RPM is greater than 5000 THEN alarm condition (light and buzzer).
2. IF RPM is greater than 6950 THEN alarm condition (light and buzzer).

Ah, BASIC. Kind of cool to see a control like that using BASIC. :)

Could I ask you to set up some alarm conditions and let us know how they work out in practice? I'd hate to blow the money on the Zeitronix and find out this monitoring isn't a reality. A huge thanks in advance if you could do this!

I have been planning to setup the alarms. I was trying to tune the car first. I have to borrow a laptop on the weekend to program or make changes to the alarms. I will try to test some of this out this weekend if it does not rain.

I was unable to borrow a laptop this weekend, so I did not get a chance to try out the alarms. The laptop owner has some sort of flu and is running a fever. I do not have time to get sick, so I did not try to borrow it this weekend. Hopefully next weekend she will be better.

FYI here is a link to the instructions on Zeitronix web site for setting this up (Since they are not a competitor of Tom's, I hope he doesn't mind the link).

Steve,

I actually encourage links and discussions of non competitive products. Zietronics makes a great product too.

Got it. Thanks Steve. I'm going to wait for your confirmation before I place my Zeitronix order.

Any update?

Thanks!

Sorry to be so slow. I had to work part of the weekend and I got side tracked with a trip to the dyno and trying to get my AFR right. I have a note to check out the alarms, but with my current AFR curve it may not mean much. I will try again this weekend.

Too slow Steve! :) I ordered a Zeitronix today. Figured I need to get this thing tuned and am confident I can get the alarming to work. We'll see....

Sorry, I have been working stupid amounts of overtime 7 days a week for the month of July. I cranked my Miata for the first time in 2 weeks yesterday and got it out for about 10 minutes to keep the battery from going dead again. I was not even able to check the forum for the past week. My work schedule will probably look like this for the next 8-10 months unless they hire me some help. I have not had time to get into the alarms yet. If you figure something out, please let me know.
